Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And they will approach one another blaming each other. وأقبل بعضهم على بعض يتساءلون
[As-Saffat 37:27]
“Aqbal” means that some of them turned toward one another. The phrase “questioning one another” is a description of the state of the subject and the object in the prepositional phrase. The subject is in “some of them,” and the object is in “toward some.” They turned to one another, questioning one another, asking one another in a manner of mutual blame and dispute. Thus, after they had been in agreement and friendship in this world, they became enemies in the Hereafter.
Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous الأخلاء يومئذ بعضهم لبعض عدو إلا المتقين
[Az-Zukhruf 43:67]
“Questioning one another” means that some of them ask others in a manner of rebuke and denial. It is said that they are disputing with one another.
