And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
وتركنا عليه في الآخرين [As-Saffat 37:78]
We left for him, We left for him, and He did not say "We left for him" [meaning: We left it for him]; "We left for him" indicates that "We left" contains a meaning that suits the preposition mentioned. Pay attention, He says:
And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
وتركنا عليه في الآخرين [As-Saffat 37:78]
meaning: We left for them a good reputation. I say: He did not say "We left for them among the later generations," but rather He said:
And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
تركنا عليه في الآخرين [As-Saffat 37:78]
So it is necessary that "We left" contains a meaning suitable for "for" (ʿalā), and the meaning suitable for "for" is praise. That is, We praised him with praise left among the later generations, and that is indeed the case. For Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, praised him with praise that is among the best of praise. He said:
O descendants of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah. Indeed, he was a grateful servant.
[Al-Isra 17:3]
This is the greatest of praise and the most noble of boasting, that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, describes one of the children of Adam, saying:
Indeed, he was a grateful servant.
[Al-Isra 17:3]
meaning: one who was established in servitude and established in gratitude, peace and blessings be upon him. So Allah left for him a good reputation among the later generations, until the last of the nations, indeed until the Day of Resurrection, because this Book will remain until Allah, Mighty and Majestic, takes it up when the Hour is near, and the Qur'an contains praise of Noah.
