The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((Indeed, thus We reward the doers of good. * Indeed, he was among Our believing servants. * Then We drowned the others.))
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Among the benefits of His saying is that the doer of good is rewarded with the same reward that Noah (peace be upon him) was rewarded with, namely his salvation from destruction and the preservation of his reputation from bad mention. And the more a person does good, the greater his reward and the better it is.
Among the benefits of the verse is the establishment of analogical reasoning (qiyas) in His saying, meaning that We reward every doer of good with a reward like this. And among its benefits is that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) ties the reward, the punishment, the praise, and the blame to descriptions, not to individuals. Because He tied the reward to doing good. Therefore, nothing of the rulings of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is ever restricted to a specific person because of his personhood. Even the characteristics of the messengers are not from the category of characteristics of individuals, but from the category of characteristics of descriptions. Because they possess a description that is additional to others, which is the description of prophethood and messengership. And they were singled out with some rulings appropriate to their status. As for singling out a specific person because he is so-and-so, son of so-and-so, for example, this does not exist in the Shari'ah. Because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) ties the rulings and attaches them to descriptions, not to individuals.
Among the benefits of the verse is His saying[As-Saffat 37:81], which points to the perfection of these two descriptions, which are servitude and faith. And that they are the noblest description by which a person is characterized: to be a servant of Allah who believes in Him. Because Allah said, "Indeed, he was among Our believing servants," meaning Noah. And Noah (peace be upon him) was among the resolute ones of the messengers. So if it was among his virtues and excellences that he was among the believing servants of Allah, that indicates the excellence of servitude and faith.
Among the benefits of His saying[Ash-Shu'ara 26:66] is the clarification of the wisdom of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) in that He drowned these deniers of His messenger (peace be upon him), or rather the deniers of His messengers. Because Allah said [Ash-Shu'ara 26:105]. And the denial of the people of Noah was not because he was Noah, but because of what he brought. Therefore, the denial of one messenger is the denial of all messengers, because it is a denial of the type of messengership, not of the person sent.
Among its benefits is also the establishment of justice by drowning these deniers. Because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) did not drown them unjustly, but they were the ones who wronged themselves. He said[As-Saffat 37:83], meaning those who followed him in the original religion. This is the beginning of today's lesson.
