Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: “Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is a liar” in attributing offspring to Allah, “disbelievers” by worshipping other than Allah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Indication, therefore,
Indeed, Allah guides not إنَّ الله لا يهدي
[Al-Ma'idah 5:51]
guidance of success, not guidance of indication, for the guidance of indication is established for everyone, yes.
does not guide he who is a liar and [confirmed] disbeliever. لا يهدي من هو كاذب كفار
[Az-Zumar 39:3]
who isمَن هو
that is, the one who is,
a liar كاذب
The author said:“in attributing offspring to Him”. Those who attributed offspring to Him are the Jews, the Christians, and the polytheists, three groups. As for the Jews, they said: “Ezra is the son of Allah.” As for the Christians, they said: “The Messiah is the son of Allah.” As for the polytheists, they said: “The angels are the daughters of Allah.” The verse, as you see,
who is a liar مَن هو كاذب
[Hud 11:93]
is general, but it appears the author specified it regarding the attribution of offspring to Allah, based on his statement later:
If Allah had intended to take a son, He could have chosen from what He creates whatever He willed لو أراد الله أن يتخذ ولدًا لاصطفى مما يخلُق ما يشاء
[Az-Zumar 39:4]

The student: ...

The Shaykh : It appears the author specified it regarding the attribution of offspring to Him, based on His saying:
If Allah had intended to take a son لو أراد الله أن يتَّخِذَ ولدًا
[Az-Zumar 39:4]
Is that clear? Otherwise, if we looked at the verse
a liar كاذِب
, it would be absolute, not restricted to the attribution of offspring to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). But the author restricted it by consideration or by the context.
disbelievers كفَّارُ
“Kuffar” (disbelievers) may be a form of exaggeration or a form of attribution. If it is attribution, it becomes a permanent attribute, just as we say: carpenter, blacksmith, woodworker, builder, and the like. If it is a form of exaggeration, it is not a permanent attribute, but it indicates abundance. In any case, whether it is exaggeration or attribution, the intended meaning is disbelief in Allah (Mighty and Majestic). The author said:“by worshipping other than Allah”. There is no doubt that this is disbelief: worshipping other than Allah. The specification of disbelief here by worshipping other than Allah is supported by the context, which is his statement earlier:
And those who take protectors besides Him [say], "We only worship them that they may bring us nearer to Allah والذين اتخذوا من دونه أولياء ما نعبدهم إلا ليقربونا إلى الله
[Az-Zumar 39:3]
