Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: ((And they turned back)) they turned toward ((Allah for them is the good news)) of Paradise ((So give good news to My servants)).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
lest they worship it, and turned back to Allah أن يعبدوها وأنابوا الى الله
[Az-Zumar 39:17]
He says: "
they turned backأنابوا
They turned toward
to Allahإلى الله
"
and turning back (inabah) can mean turning toward, as the author said, and it can mean returning, that they returned to Allah, and returning to Allah necessitates turning toward Him, because a person flees by sinning away from Allah, so if he repents, turns back, and returns to Allah, he is turning toward Him.
for them is the good newsلهم البشرى
This sentence is a declarative sentence in which the predicate was placed before the subject
Their.لهم
, to convey exclusivity, because what is right to be delayed, if it is placed first, conveys exclusivity. And his saying:
for them is the good news لهم البشرى
This sentence is the predicate of "those"
The onesالذين
: "Those who shun the Taghut, for them is the good news," is clear? So this sentence is in the position of a nominative case as a predicate. So what is the good news? The good news (bushra) is that by which the glad tidings (basharah) are obtained, and basharah is originally the glad news, and the glad news was called basharah because its effect appears on the skin (bashar), which is the skin, for when a person is informed of what pleases him, his face lights up and changes, so it was called bushra. And the author's saying: " Paradise " this is undoubtedly included in the good news, but it is more general than what the author said, as Allah the Exalted said:
For them are good tidings in the worldly life and in the Hereafter لهم البشرى في الحياة الدنيا وفي الآخرة
[Yunus 10:64]
So among the good news is the righteous dream that a person sees for himself or that a believer sees for him, for this is from the good news, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
That is the immediate good news of the believer: the righteous dream that he sees or that is seen for him تلك عَاجِلُ بشرى المؤمن الرؤيا الصالحة يرَاها أو تُرَى له
such as seeing that the one who gives him good news of Paradise sees that he is in bliss, and the like of that, this is from the good news. And among the good news is also being granted success for righteous deeds; if you see that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has granted you success for righteous deeds built upon sincerity and following the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then this is from the good news. And among the good news is also that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) grants you success in the company of the righteous,
Indeed, a person is upon the religion of his close friend فإنَّ المرءَ على دينِ خليلِه
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 33:79
as it came in the hadith:
so let one of you look at whom he befriends فليَنْظُر أحدكم مَن يُخَالِل
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2378Hasan (Darussalam)
So if you find that Allah has granted you success in the company of the righteous, then this is a sign of happiness. And among the good news is also that a person loves whom Allah loves, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a man who loves a people but has not yet joined them, so he said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever loves a people, he is of them مَن أحَبَّ قومًا فهو منهم
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: " We did not rejoice after Islam with anything more beloved to us than this hadith " meaning that, then he said: " So I love the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and I love Abu Bakr and 'Umar " So this is from the good news. The important thing is that the good news is every glad news, so it includes what the author said, which is Paradise, and it is the goal of every person, and it includes what was a sign of that.
for them is the good news لهم البشرى
He said:
So give good news to My servants فبَشِّرْ عِبَاد
The believer is always pleased, and even if he is struck by a trial, he is pleased, because if he is struck by a trial and is patient, it is better for him. His saying:
So give good news to the servants فبَشِّر عبادِ
The dal is kasrah (short vowel) even though it is an object, why?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Because its original form is
My servantsعبادي
so the yaa was deleted for lightness, as in His saying the Exalted:
And there is not for them besides Him any patron. وما لهم من دونه من وال
[Ar-Ra'd 13:11]
meaning a guardian, and even though the yaa in
protectorمن وال
is not the yaa in
My servantsعبادي
, because the yaa of "wali" (guardian) is from the root of the word, whereas here it is another word, the yaa. Okay,
So give good tidings to My servants فبشر عباد
Who is meant by "servants" here? The intended meaning is the specificity of servitude, i.e., the righteous servants of Allah, not every servant.
