Allah the Exalted said: << هدى وبشرى للمؤمنين >

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Allah the Exalted said:
And a clear Book
[Surah al-Naml: 1] "A revealer of the truth from falsehood, connected by adding a description" Where is the description? Clear.
Then he said: "It is
Guidance
"
The author assumed "It is" to show us the grammatical parsing of *Huda* (guidance). On this assumption, *Huda* becomes the predicate of a deleted subject. The assumed sentence is: "It is
guidance هُدًى
meaning: a guide from misguidance"
.
It is known that *Huda* is a verbal noun and that *Hadi* is a name of the doer (active participle), so the author here explained the verbal noun with the name of the doer. There is a point to consider in his explanation, because it is better to keep the verbal noun as it is, for two reasons:
The first reason is that converting the name of the doer to the verbal noun is more eloquent. If you say "So-and-so is just" and "So-and-so is a just person," which is more eloquent?
"Just" is more eloquent, meaning: it is as if it is the verbal noun for justice, whereas "a just person" is one who possesses the justice found in others. So there is no doubt that the verbal noun is more eloquent.
The second reason in this verse is that making it *Huda* means that the Qur'an itself is guidance by which a person is guided. It is like knowledge that a person follows until he reaches his goal. Just as Allah the Exalted named it light
and We have sent down to you a clear light.
[Surah al-Nisa: 174].
So we say: *Huda* must remain as it is, meaning: it is a verbal noun, and that is more eloquent than converting it to a name of the doer. And secondly, it is a verbal noun because the Qur'an itself is guidance; it is not a guide, but it is guidance by which one is guided.
Just as He said:
and We have sent down to you a clear light.
[Surah al-Nisa: 174]
And His saying the Exalted:
Guidance and glad tidings for the believers
[Surah al-Naml: 2] "Good news" also means "glad tidings," but for whom? "For the believers who believe in it, [good news] of Paradise".
His saying: "of Paradise," we will mention this later.
His saying:
for the believers لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
[Surah al-Naml: 2] meaning: those who believe in it. Mere belief in the form of affirmation is not sufficient here. Rather, the faith found in the Qur'an must include acceptance and submission along with affirmation. Mere affirmation is not sufficient. The evidence that mere affirmation is not sufficient is that Abu Talib affirmed what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) brought, and he said: "
They have surely known that our son is not a denier among us, nor one who concerns himself with saying falsehoods.
And you have surely known that the religion of Muhammad is the best of the religions of the land.
Were it not for the blame or fear of insult, you would have seen me lenient and clear regarding that.
So he did not accept and did not submit, and he was not a believer. So, wherever you find the word "faith" in the Book of Allah, the intended meaning is affirmation that necessitates acceptance and submission, not mere affirmation.
So, for the believers who affirm in it, accept it, and submit to its rulings, this is necessary.
And His saying:
Guidance and glad tidings for the believers
[Surah al-Naml: 2] It is derived from this that: the more complete the faith of the servant, the more complete his guidance by the Qur'an. Because when a thing is qualified by a description, it increases with the increase of that description and decreases with its decrease. When a ruling is qualified by a description, that description increases the ruling with its increase and decreases it with its decrease. This is known even in tangible things. Even in tangible things, you find that a thing qualified by another thing increases with its increase and decreases with its decrease.
So we say: the more a person increases in faith, the more he increases in guidance by the Qur'an. And what indicates this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And whenever a surah is revealed, there are among the hypocrites those who say, "Which of you has this increased faith?" As for those who believed, it has increased them in faith, while they are rejoicing.
[Surah al-Tawbah: 124].
And what also indicates this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort words from their [proper] usages and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded
[Surah al-Ma'idah: 13].
And also
And glad tidings for the believers
[Surah al-Naml: 2] "Good news" is the announcement of what brings joy. It may also be used for the announcement of what brings sorrow, but with its context.
And here it says: "
Good news of Paradise."
But the correct view is that it is good news of what is broader: of Paradise, of honor, of dignity, and of victory. Allah the Exalted said:
And [you will obtain] another [favor] that you love - victory from Allah and an imminent conquest
[Surah al-Saff: 13] after mentioning Paradise for the believers
victory from Allah and an imminent conquest
[As-Saf 61:13]
, then He said:
And give good news to the believers
[Surah al-Saff: 13].
Meaning: He gave them good news of what they have in Paradise and gave them good news of what they have in this world of victory. And every person by his human nature loves to be victorious over his enemy, is that not so? And he loves to have honor and dignity. This cannot be achieved except through faith. And the more we increase in faith, the more we increase in victory over our enemy. And the more we become weak in faith, the more we are abandoned
Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves
[Surah al-Ra'd: 11].
And if you want evidence for this, look at those who sing about Arab nationalism. Since when have they been singing about it? I think since the beginning of the century, meaning: for a long time. And this call reached its peak in .... And yet they do not increase except in backwardness and weakness, because they are not upon faith. But when the sign of the call to Islam and Islamic solidarity appeared, what happened?
They tried with all their ability to destroy this, not from the disbelieving states, but even from the states that claim to be Muslim and are Arab. And they began to say: This is a regressive call, and so on.
And finally, those who stood for it and the call to it were destroyed. So the result is: I am now saying that if we want to return to honor, dignity, and victory, that will not be except through faith.
And someone might say: How can we be victorious by faith over atomic and hydrogen bombs?
The student: By Allah...

The Shaykh : We say: If we take the spiritual strength, then if the material strength is provided for us, otherwise the divine strength comes. For example, from among the matters of faith is that we prepare, but if we are unable to prepare, then the role of divine victory comes, and it nullifies the strength upon which these enemies rely. And Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, is capable of all things. Weather changes affect these weapons of theirs, or not? Lightning destroys them, and subsidence takes them and their people. And all this is in the hand of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. And a man told me last year that he went to Afghanistan to fight with them, and he was a young man who had graduated from America. But he insisted—and I think I have told you his story—except to strive in the path of Allah. He said: I cannot die without jihad. And he insisted on his mother and father, and they made the judgment to Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, and then to me to judge between them. They said: Do not go, and he said: No. I want to go. They said: Do not go, you have not performed the obligatory Hajj, and he said: No. I will go and I commit to you that I will return and perform Hajj.
The important thing is that after he broke his fast in Ramadan last year, he went. He witnessed the faith, saying: With the little equipment they have, even to the point that he says: They have no medicines except old, spoiled medicines. These companies sell them to them and cheat them.
But he says: I saw with my own eyes .... And in the mosque where they gather for Friday prayer, he says: The Russians are keen on Friday to come to this mosque to destroy it. He says: They place people in the areas to guard the mosque and its surroundings.
So it came, he says: The bombs struck the ground on the mosque, they wanted the mosque, but he says: None of them struck the mosque, and they struck what is around it and did not explode, Subhan Allah al-Azim!
He says: Only one exploded, it exploded on one of the soldiers and killed him, and the rest, he says: Refused. Meaning: They came out as if nothing happened at all. And this is among the signs of Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta'ala.
So the result is we say: Victory, we must know that it does not depend only on material strength, there is something behind it.
And for this Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might. (41) [And they are] those who, if We give them authority in the land, establish prayer and give zakah and enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong
[Surah al-Hajj: 40 - 41] Four thousand. Someone might say: What do we have to do with victory with these qualities in the face of bombs and others? But He concluded the verse with His saying:
And to Allah belongs the outcome of [all] matters.
[Surah al-Hajj: 41] It is not by tangible matters. The outcome is for Allah, Mighty and Majestic, so He, Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, turns the days over those who disobey and oppose.
The student: ...?

The Shaykh : Yes, correct, perhaps this is the case.
In any case, do not rule it out, but in reality, we rule out victory because of our deeds. We do not have a balance that entitles us to victory.
So:
And glad tidings for the believers
[Surah al-Naml: 2] "of Paradise" as the author said, or of what is broader?
The student: Of what is broader.

The Shaykh : What is the evidence?
The student: Because of His saying the Exalted in Surah al-Saff.

The Shaykh : In Surah al-Saff
(11) [It is that] you believe in Allah and His Messenger and strive in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is best for you, if you should know. (12) He will forgive for you your sins and admit
[Surah al-Saff: 11 - 12].
Then He said:
And [you will obtain] another [favor] that you love - victory from Allah and an imminent conquest
[As-Saf 61:13]
Then He said:
And give good news to the believers
[Surah al-Saff: 13].
