Another question from him, also regarding tayammum: Is it obligatory for a Muslim to perform tayammum for every prayer, even if his tayammum has not been invalidated?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He has another question regarding tayammum, in which he asks: Is it obligatory for a Muslim to perform tayammum for every prayer, even if his tayammum has not been invalidated?

The Shaykh : It is not obligatory for him to perform tayammum for every prayer if his tayammum has not been invalidated.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : The invalidation of tayammum occurs when water becomes available. If water is found, it is obligatory for him to use the water. The invalidation of tayammum also occurs when a wound heals or in similar cases for which he performed tayammum. If he heals and wants to pray, he must perform wudu' because the excuse has been removed. The important point is that the invalidation of tayammum occurs when the excuse that permitted tayammum is removed, whether it was the absence of water and then finding it, or if it was for an illness and then he recovers. Likewise, tayammum is invalidated by the things that invalidate wudu' if it was in place of wudu', and by the things that invalidate ghusl if it was in place of ghusl.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : As for the expiration of the time, it does not invalidate tayammum. If one performs tayammum for the Zuhr prayer, for example, and remains in a state of purity until the time for 'Asr enters, he remains in a state of purity and there is no blame on him. This is because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) made tayammum a means of purification, and He said after mentioning tayammum:
Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:6]
.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called the earth a purifier, and a purifier is that which purifies. He said:
the earth has been made for me a place of worship and a means of purification. جعلت لي الأرض مسجداً وطهورا
Sunan Ibn Majah 567Sahih (Darussalam)
So the earth is a purifier and water is a purifier. Just as water purifies, so the earth purifies when the conditions for the permissibility of tayammum are met. In the hadith, it is also reported from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Clean earth is the Wudu' of the Muslim, even if he does not find water for ten years. الصعيد وضوء المسلم وإن لم يجد الماء عشر سنين
Sunan an-Nasa'i 322Hasan (Darussalam)
So the Messenger called it wudu', and wudu' is that with which one performs wudu' and removes the state of ritual impurity. So tayammum is a purifier that removes the state of ritual impurity. And if it removes the state of ritual impurity, the state of ritual impurity does not return except for its causes, which are the known invalidators.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.
