The benefits of the verse: “It is He who forms you in the wombs as He wills. There is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This verse contains several benefits. First: it demonstrates the power of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), as He forms the creatures in the wombs; “It is He who forms you in the wombs.” Another benefit of the verse is that the formation of these images occurs by the command of Allah, with His permission, as He wills: this one is white, this one is black, this one is handsome, this one is ugly, this one is tall, this one is short, this one is thick, this one is thin, and so on. Indeed, we can say that it includes the fact that this one is male and this one is female, because the form of the male differs from the form of the female. A benefit of this noble verse is the demonstration of the mercy of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), in that He takes charge of the affairs of the fetus and forms it; it does not come out unformed. If Allah had willed, the fetus would have come out unformed, and then it would have been formed bit by bit, just as its intellect grows. But the wisdom and mercy of Allah is that it does not come out except in the form that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) intended. If someone were to say:
as He wills كيف يشاء
, it is derived from this that this formation does not return to the action of the servant, but rather to the will of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and that is the case. However, this does not contradict the fact that the image may be similar to the image of the father, or the mother, or the grandfather, or the grandmother, meaning that this fetus may have inherited the bloodline from its fathers, mothers, and relatives. This is not prevented, because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has made a cause for every thing. Evidence for this is the story of the man who came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: “O Messenger of Allah, my wife has given birth to a black boy, and the man and his wife were both white.” So he seemed to be complaining about his wife and asking what caused the blackness. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
“Do you have any camels?” He said, “What are their colors?” He said, “Red.” He said, “Are there any among them that are pale? — the pale one is the grayish one between white and black —” He said, “How could that be?” He said, “Perhaps it is inherited from a bloodline.” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “So this son of yours, perhaps it is inherited from a bloodline.”
The man was satisfied, because this is a clear and obvious analogy. The important point is his statement:
Perhaps it is inherited from a bloodlineلعله نزعه عرق
A benefit of this noble verse is the affirmation of the will, based on His saying:
as He wills كيف يشاء
It has been established for us that when the will is mentioned in a general sense, it is accompanied by wisdom; there is nothing that Allah wills except for a wisdom.
