Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says: [Ali 'Imran 3:10] It is derived from this noble verse: that the disbelievers will not benefit from their wealth or their children. Among the benefits of this is: that the wealth and children of the disbelievers will not benefit them in the least from Allah. And among its benefits is: that the believers may benefit from their wealth and their children, and that is indeed the case. The believer gives charity from his wealth and thereby benefits, and his children make du'a' for him in his lifetime and after his death, and thereby he benefits. As for the disbeliever, he will not benefit, even if his children make du'a' for him, is that not so? Now, is it permissible for his child to make du'a' for him? No, except if he is alive, in which case it is permissible to make du'a' for his guidance. But to make du'a' for him after his death, that is not possible. And among the benefits of this noble verse is: that the disbeliever owns [his wealth]. What is its proof? His statement: He attributed the wealth to him, and this is evidence that the disbeliever owns his wealth. The scholars differed regarding the apostate who disbelieves after his Islam: does his ownership of what is in his hand cease or not? Some of the scholars said: if a person becomes an apostate, his ownership of what is in his hand ceases, and on this basis, it is not valid for him to dispose of it. But the stronger opinion is: that his ownership does not cease, except if he dies upon his apostasy, in which case his ownership does not pass to his heirs, but to the public treasury. And it is well known that if we were to say that the apostate's ownership ceases, a great problem would arise in our present time. What is it? That some people do not pray, and the one who does not pray is an apostate. So if we said that the apostate's ownership ceases, it would follow that every transaction he makes in his wealth is invalid. If he sold something, the sale would not be valid; if he bought something, the purchase would not be valid; if he rented something, the rental would not be valid; and if he leased something out, the leasing would not be valid. And although some scholars said this, the stronger opinion is that his ownership remains in his wealth until he dies. When he dies, we direct his wealth to the public treasury, and none of his heirs inherits it, due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sunan Abi Dawud 2909Sahih (Al-Albani). Among the benefits of this noble verse is: the clarification of the power of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and that wealth and sons do not benefit in the least from Allah, due to His saying: [Ali 'Imran 3:10]. Now, other than Allah? Does it benefit or not? No, it benefits. Other than Allah, it can benefit; one can pay some of his wealth and be saved from being killed, is that not so? And it is possible that he has brave sons who, if someone wanted to harm him, would defend him. But from Allah, neither wealth nor a son can benefit him. And among the benefits of the verse is: encouraging the hearts of the believers against the disbelievers. What is its proof? That their wealth and their children do not benefit in the least from Allah. So if we are victorious by Allah, then the weapons, the reserves, the wealth, and the children they have will not benefit them in the least from Allah, is that not so? Yes, it is so. For this reason, if Allah (Mighty and Majestic) willed to invalidate all that they did, He would invalidate it. And I think you do not forget what happens with earthquakes that destroy much of what they have built. And do not forget also that what they have built may be corrupted by their own hands; it may be corrupted by their own hands. How many explosions have occurred in the warehouses of atomic and nuclear bombs, causing much harm to them and to those around them. If Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) willed, He would only darken the sky with darkness, and they would not be able to do anything, because the power and strength of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) cannot be overcome by anything.
