Allah the Exalted said: << When the truth came to them from Us, they said: Why was he not given the like of what was given to Moses? Did they not disbelieve in what was given to Moses before? They said:

But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses?" فلما جاءهم الحق من عندنا قالوا لولا أوتي مثل ما أوتي موسى
[Al-Qasas 28:48]
Allah the Exalted said:
When the truth came to themفلما جاءهم الحق
Comeالحق
We mentioned previously that it is the established thing, and that in contrast to commands it is justice, and in contrast to reports it is truth. The author stated that the intended meaning of "the truth" here is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) "As if he deviated from the apparent meaning of it because of his statement:
Why was he not given like that which was given to Moses? لولا أوتي مثل ما أوتي موسى
[Al-Qasas 28:48]
When the truth came to them from Us, they said: Why was he not givenفلما جاءهم الحق من عندنا قالوا لولا أوتي
This truth
the like of what was given to Mosesمثلَ ما أوتي موسى
So it is as if the author deviated from the apparent meaning of "the truth" to make Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) the referent in this, but the correct view is that the intended meaning of "the truth" is the revelation that descended upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). For this reason he said:
When the truth came to them from Usفلما جاءهم الحق من عندنا
And the preposition "from" (indication of proximity) implies nearness and that it be from Allah. It is not conceivable that this is Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), but rather it is the truth with which he came. Just as this verse
When the truth came to them from Usفلما جاءهم الحق من عندنا
in all its places in the Qur'an is consistent in that the intended meaning is the revelation that descended upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Do you understand? And his statement:
Why was he not givenلولا أوتي
means Muhammad who came with this truth. So the meaning of the verse here is very clear and involves no strain. We said that the pronoun
Why was he not givenلولا أوتي
supports that the truth is Muhammad. We say: There is no need for that, as long as the truth came, and who brought it? Muhammad. So it is known that his statement:
Why was he not givenلولا أوتي
means Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) who brought the truth, and Muhammad is not the truth. For this reason, "the truth" is not among the names of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Yes, he (peace and blessings be upon him) is truthful in what he brought of prophethood, but he brought the truth. Yes, when the truth came to them, they said. To whom does the pronoun refer? It refers to those to whom the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) came.
They said: Why قالوا لولا
"Halla"
What is the meaning of this branching?
The student: It is exhortative.

The Shaykh : It is exhortative, not conditional. "Halla"
He was givenأوتي
means "was given"
like what was given to Mosesمثلَ ما أوتِي موسى
And this answer has a problem if we make it refer to Quraysh, because Quraysh, as is known, were an illiterate people who knew nothing about the messengers. So how could they object with the story of Moses? The exegetes answered that when the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent, Quraysh used to send messages to the Jews and say: "A man has come to us who claims to be a prophet. What are the signs of the prophets with you?" So the Jews would inform them of the signs of the prophets. For this reason, Quraysh objected to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with the signs that came to Moses. It is also possible that his statement:
So when the truth came to them from Us, they said, "Why was not Moses givenفلما جاءهم الحق من عندنا قالوا لولا أوتي موسى
before. refers to the Jews, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent to them. And this possibility is supported by his statement:
Did they not disbelieve in that which was given to Moses before? أو لم يكفروا بما أوتي موسى من قبل
[Al-Qasas 28:48]
... Yes.
The student: His saying, the Exalted:
Do they not see that We have created for them from what أو لم يروا أنا خلقنا لهم مما عملت
[Ya-Sin 36:71]
What is the meaning ..... the created, and that the hand is the tool of action, this is not ...

The Shaykh : No, we cannot say it is non-existent.
The student: Because Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, says:
His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is. إنما أمره إذا أراد شيئا أن يقول له كن فيكون
[Ya-Sin 36:82]
which indicates that He acts.

The Shaykh : Yes, but He says to it "Be" and it is.
... So its meaning is a particle of existence for existence, that it is closer to being conditional
