The reader: "The discussion is that we are forbidden from imitating them in what the Salaf (the earliest generations) of the Ummah (the Muslim community) did not practice. As for what the Salaf of the Ummah did practice, there is no doubt about it; whether they did it or left it. For we do not abandon what Allah has commanded us to do just because the disbelievers do it, even though Allah has not commanded us to do anything that would make us agree with them, except that there must be a type of difference by which the decisive religion of Allah is distinguished from what has been abrogated or altered."
