The reader: "The third aspect of the Sunnah is that this hadith and others have indicated that the people in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance had festivals in which they gathered, and it is known that with the sending of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Allah abolished that for them, so nothing of it remained, and it is known that had it not been for His prohibition and prevention, the people would not have abandoned those festivals, because the factor necessitating them is present from the side of nature, which loves what is done in festivals, especially the festivals of falsehood"

The reader: "especially the festivals of falsehood, such as play and pleasures, and from the side of custom, which has become accustomed, which has become accustomed to what recurs from the festival, for custom is a second nature, and if the necessitating factor is present and strong, then had it not been for a strong preventing factor, those festivals would not have been extinguished, and this necessitates certain knowledge that the Imam of the People of Taqwa (peace and blessings be upon him) prevented his Ummah strongly from the festivals of the disbelievers, and strived to extinguish and obliterate them by every means
And there is no preservation of anything in the fact that the People of the Book were allowed to remain on their religion, and there is no preservation of any of their festivals for his Ummah in the fact that the People of the Book were allowed to remain on their religion, just as there is no preservation for his Ummah in what they are upon in their other deeds, from their other disbelief and sins. Rather, he (peace and blessings be upon him) went to the extreme in ordering his Ummah to differ from them in many permissible matters and characteristics of acts of obedience, so that that would not be a means to agreeing with them in other matters of theirs, and so that the difference in that would be a barrier and a preventer from their other matters. For the more the difference between you and the companions of the Fire increases, the further you are from the deeds of the people of the Fire. So, after his striving for his Ummah and his sincere advice to them to the utmost—my father and mother be sacrificed for him—and all of that is from the favor of Allah upon him and upon the people, but most people do not know"
