Reading from the author's text with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "Al-Bayhaqi said: And in this

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "Al-Bayhaqi said: And in this is the dislike of singling out a day for this, as the Shari'ah has not made it specific for it"

The Shaykh : Al-Bayhaqi said
The reader: "Al-Bayhaqi said: And in this is the dislike of singling out a day for this, as the Shari'ah has not made it specific for it. And this is 'Umar who forbade learning their language, and merely entering their church on their festival day, so how about performing some of their actions? Or performing what is among the implications of their religion? Is not agreeing with them in action greater than agreeing with them in language? Or is not performing some of the actions of their festival greater than merely entering upon them on their festival? And if the anger descends upon them on their festival day because of their action; then whoever shares with them in the action or part of it: is he not exposed to the punishment of that? Then his saying: And avoid the enemies of Allah in their festivals is it not a prohibition of meeting them and gathering with them in it? So how about one who performs their festival? As for 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, he explicitly stated that: Whoever builds"

The Shaykh : ... Yes
The reader: "As for 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, he explicitly stated that: Whoever builds in their lands, and makes their Nowruz and Mihraj, and imitates them until he dies; will be resurrected with them. And this implies that he"

The Shaykh : With you, and 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr
The Reader: Yes.

The Shaykh : The one who preceded Ibn 'Amr
The student: 'Umar, O Shaykh
The reader: Preceded, I preceded with Ibn 'Umar and Ibn 'Amr

The Shaykh : The one with me, all of them, both hadiths are Ibn 'Amr
The reader: I say in my notes "In the thousand and waw, it is Ibn 'Umar, and the correct is Ibn 'Amr, as mentioned previously in the text, and as it is established from the rest of the manuscripts" But I indicated in my notes a manuscript of 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar and another of 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr

The Shaykh : Yes, but the two hadiths that passed us are all 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr with the waw. In any case, we correct this because this "As for 'Abdullah" is conjoined to what preceded. Yes.
The reader: "As for 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr, he explicitly stated that: Whoever builds in their lands, and makes their Nowruz and Mihraj, and imitates them until he dies; will be resurrected with them. And this implies that he made him a disbeliever by his participation with them in the totality of these matters, or made that from the major sins that necessitate the Fire, and even if the first is the apparent meaning of his wording, then participation in some of that is a sin; because if it were not influential in deserving the punishment, it would not be permissible to make it a part of the necessitating factor, since the permissible is not punished for, and the blame for some of that is not conditioned by some; because the parts of what he mentioned necessitate blame individually. And he mentioned - and Allah knows best - whoever builds in their lands; because they, in the time of 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr and others of the Companions, were prevented from displaying their festivals in the abode of Islam, and no one of the Muslims used to imitate them in their festival, and one could only be able to do that by being in their land. As for 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he disliked agreeing with them in the name of the festival day that they are unique in, so how about agreeing with them in action? Ahmad explicitly stated the meaning of what came from 'Umar and 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with them) in that, and his companions mentioned the issue of the festival. And the saying of Qadi Abu Ya'la has preceded: An issue regarding the prohibition of attending their festivals. And Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Amidi - known as Ibn al-Baghdadi - said in his book: The Support of the Resident and the Sufficiency of the Traveler" Chapter: It is not permissible to attend the festivals of the Christians and the Jews "Ahmad explicitly stated this in the narration of Makhna, and he argued with His saying, the Exalted:
And [they are] those who do not testify to falsehood والذين لا يشهدون الزور
[Al-Furqan 25:72]
He said: The Shu'aniyyin and their festivals"

The Shaykh : The Shu'aniyyin
The reader: "He said: The Shu'aniyyin and their festivals"

The Shaykh : And their festivals, meaning interpretation
The reader: "He said: The Shu'aniyyin and their festivals. As for what they sell in the markets on their festivals, there is no harm in attending it. Ahmad explicitly stated this in the narration of Makhna, and he said: They are only prevented from entering their shops and their churches. As for what is sold in the markets of food, no, even if one intends to provide it and beautify it for their sake. Al-Khallal said in his Jami': Chapter on the dislike of Muslims going out on the festivals of the polytheists. And he mentioned from Makhna that he said: I asked Ahmad about attending these festivals that occur with us in Sham, such as: Tur Yanur, and Dayr Ayyub, and the like thereof. The Muslims attend them, they attend the markets, and they bring sheep in it, and cattle, and flour, and wheat, and barley, and other than that, except that it is only in the markets where they buy, and they do not enter their shops. He said: If they do not enter their shops, and only attend the market, there is no harm. So Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) only permitted attending the market on the condition: that they do not enter their shops; so it is known that he prohibited entering their shops. And likewise al-Khallal took from that: the prohibition of Muslims going out"

The Shaykh : The prohibition
The reciter: "And likewise, the scholars have taken from this the prohibition of Muslims going out during the festivals of the People of the Book. Ahmad explicitly stated the same as what was reported from 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the prohibition of entering their churches during their festivals. As we mentioned, this falls under the category of warning against doing what they do, or against imitating their actions. And as for..."

The Shaykh : So we understand that if they bring unusual items to the markets on the days of their festivals, there is no harm in buying from them, because this is not considered participating in their festival as an act of worship, but rather as trade. However, is it permissible for us to bring such things to them? Apparently not, because this would be assisting them in their falsehood. As for buying from their markets when they are crowded with goods on the day of the festival, there is no harm in it, as Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) explicitly stated. The time is up. Yes.
