Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon His servant and messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his book al-Iqtida' "And likewise the festivals of the Persians, such as Nowruz and Mehragan"

The Shaykh : What, what?
The reader: The festivals of the Persians

The Shaykh : Yes, such as
The reader: Such as Niruz

The Shaykh : No, Niruz is Nowruz
The reader: I said Nowruz, O Shaykh, Niruz

The Shaykh : No, Nowruz. And you said Nowruz, but you said and Mehragan
The reader: "And likewise the festivals of the Persians, such as Nowruz and Mehragan, and the festivals of the Jews"

The Shaykh : how
The reader: Mehragan

The Shaykh : Yes
The reader: "And the festivals of the Jews or others from the types of disbelievers or non-Arabs or Bedouins. Their ruling is all as we mentioned before. And just as we do not imitate them in their festivals, a Muslim should not assist one who imitates them in that; rather, he is forbidden from doing so. So if one makes an invitation that is contrary to custom in their festivals, his invitation is not to be accepted. And if a Muslim gives a gift in these festivals, contrary to custom in all other times except this festival, his gift is not to be accepted, especially if the gift is something that helps in imitating them, such as giving candles or the like in Christmas, or giving eggs, milk, and sheep in the small Friday at the end of their fasting. And likewise, one does not give"

The Shaykh : And this is part of policy that a person who imitates the disbelievers should be boycotted, and no gift should be accepted from him, and no invitation should be accepted from him if this gift and invitation are not from the prevailing custom, for he does not accept them as a boycott of him, and so that this is not taken as a festival in which no one participates. This was mentioned previously.
