Reading from the author's statement and collating the manuscripts: "And as for Ahmad's argument for this issue by saying, 'And do not eat of that over which the name of Allah has not been mentioned'

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: "As for Ahmad's argument on this issue by citing the saying of Allah the Exalted
And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned ولا تأكلوا مما لم يذكر اسم الله عليه
[Al-An'am 6:121]
, where the naming of Allah is made a condition in the slaughter of a Muslim, is it also a condition in the slaughter of a People of the Book? There are two narrations on this. Although al-Khallal mentioned here that it is not a condition, his argument with this verse is derived from one of the two narrations. When the general prohibition, which is the saying of Allah the Exalted
and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah وما أهل به لغير الله
[Al-Baqarah 2:173]
, conflicts with the general permission, which is His saying
and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you وطعام الذين أوتوا الكتاب حل لكم
[Al-Ma'idah 5:5]
, the scholars differed on this. The view most in accordance with the Book and the Sunnah is what is indicated by the majority of Ahmad's statements, which is the prohibition. Even though some of our later followers did not mention this narration at all. This is because the generality of the saying of Allah the Exalted
and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah وما أهل لغير الله به
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
those which are sacrificed on stone altars وما ذبح على النصب
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
is a preserved generality from which no specific case has been excluded, unlike
the food of those who were given the Scripture طعام الذين أوتوا الكتاب
[Al-Ma'idah 5:5]
, where zakah is a condition for it, and thus slaughter is a condition for it."

The Shaykh : Lawful slaughter, yes, the one that makes it lawful.
The reader: I have it with a zay.

The Shaykh : Ah?
The reader: I say I have a typographical error with a zay; it was written with a zay.

The Shaykh : What?
The reader: I have it.

The Shaykh : Zakah, yes, perhaps...
The reader: "For which it is a condition"

The Shaykh : Like this, O Samih.
The student: It came to us.

The Shaykh : Yes, indeed.
The reader: "For which lawful slaughter is a condition. If a Person of the Book slaughters in a place not prescribed, his slaughter is not lawful. And because the limit of the Person of the Book is that his slaughter is like that of a Muslim, and if a Muslim slaughters for other than Allah, or slaughters in the name of other than Allah, it is not lawful, even though he becomes a disbeliever by doing so. So likewise for the dhimmi."
