Reading from the author's text with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "And regarding His saying: {And what is sacrificed to the pillars}, there are two opinions: the first is

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "And regarding His saying
those which are sacrificed on stone altars
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
there are two opinions: the first is that the act of slaughter itself was performed upon them, as we have mentioned, so that their slaughter upon them was a means of drawing near to the idols. This is based on the opinion of those who consider them to be other than the idols, so the slaughter upon them is for the sake that what is slaughtered upon them is slaughtered for the idols, or slaughtered for them. This necessitates the prohibition of everything slaughtered for other than Allah"

The Shaykh : Every
The Reader: Yes.

The Shaykh : Every
The reader: "The prohibition of everything slaughtered for other than Allah, and because the slaughter in a specific location has no effect except from the side of slaughtering for other than Allah, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked"

The Shaykh : ...
The reader: "the slaughter in the location of the idols of the polytheists and the location of their festivals. The slaughtered animal in the specific piece is disliked only because it is" in my opinion, the piece

The Shaykh : a place of shirk, a place of shirk, a place of shirk
The reader: not in my opinion, the piece is correct

The Shaykh : Ah?
The reader: the piece in your opinion

The Shaykh : Ah?
The reader: in my opinion, and the slaughtered animal in the piece is disliked

The Shaykh : and only
The student: the piece

The Shaykh : Yes, in the specific location
The reader: in my opinion, the piece

The Shaykh : the piece
The Reader: Yes.

The Shaykh : not the location
The reader: "And the slaughtered animal in the specific location is disliked only because it is a place of shirk. So if the slaughter is truly for other than Allah, then the reality of the prohibition has been found in it. The second opinion is that the slaughter upon the pillars means for the sake of the pillars, just as it is said: 'He feasted for Zaynab with bread and meat'"

The Shaykh : Zaynab
The reader: Yes "for Zaynab, and so-and-so fed for his son, and so-and-so slaughtered for his son, and the like. From this is His saying, the Exalted:
to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you
[Al-Baqarah 2:185]
This is clear on the opinion of those who consider the pillars to be the idols themselves, and there is no contradiction between the slaughter being for them and the fact that they were stained with blood. On this opinion, the indication is clear. The difference between these two opinions regarding His saying, the Exalted:
upon the standing stones على النصب
is similar to the difference in His saying, the Exalted:
And for all religion We have appointed a rite [of sacrifice] that they may mention the name of Allah over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals.
[Al-Hajj 22:34]
and His saying, the Exalted:
That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals
[Al-Hajj 22:28]
It has been said: The meaning of mentioning the Name of Allah upon them is when they are present. It has been said: Rather, the mention encompasses mentioning for their sake in their absence and presence, in the position of His saying, the Exalted:
to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you
[Al-Baqarah 2:185]
In reality, the outcome of the two opinions is one thing regarding His saying, the Exalted:
those which are sacrificed on stone altars
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
as we have hinted at. There is a third weak opinion: that the meaning is 'in the name of the pillars.' This is weak because this meaning is achieved from His saying, the Exalted:
and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
so it would be a repetition. But the wording allows for it, as al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih from Musa ibn 'Uqbah, from Salim, from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), that he used to narrate from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)
That he met Zayd ibn 'Amr ibn Nufayl at the bottom of Baladakh, and this was before the revelation was sent down to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) presented to him a meal containing meat, but he refused to eat from it. Then Zayd said: "I do not eat from what you slaughter upon your standing stones, and I do not eat except from that upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned."
In a narration from him: 'And Zayd ibn 'Amr ibn Nufayl used to criticize the slaughtering of the Quraysh and say: "The sheep was created by Allah, and He sent down for it water from the sky, and caused for it grass to grow from the earth, and then you slaughter it without the Name of Allah?" in denial of that and magnification of it"

The Shaykh : Allahu Akbar.
The reader: "Also, His saying, the Exalted:
and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
its apparent meaning is that it is what is slaughtered for other than Allah, such as saying: 'This is a sacrifice for such-and-such.' And if this is the intended meaning, then it is the same whether the phrase is uttered or not. The prohibition of this is clearer than the prohibition of what is slaughtered for the meat, and one says about it: 'In the name of Christ,' or the like. Just as what we slaughter drawing near thereby to Allah, the Exalted, is purer and greater than what we slaughter for the meat and we say about it: 'In the name of Allah.' For the worship of Allah, the Exalted, by prayer to Him and sacrifice to Him"

The Shaykh : and sacrifice
The reader: "For the worship of Allah by prayer to Him and sacrifice to Him"

The Shaykh : sacrifice
The reciter: "And the act of worship is greater than seeking help by his name in the beginnings of affairs. Likewise, shirk in prayer to other than Him and in worship to other than Him is greater than seeking help by his name in the beginnings of affairs. Therefore, if what is said in the name of the Messiah or the Star is forbidden, then what is said for the sake of the Messiah or the Star, or with that intention, is even more forbidden. This clarifies to you the weakness of the statement of those who forbade what is slaughtered in the name of other than Allah but did not forbid what is slaughtered for other than Allah, as a group of our companions and others have said. In fact, if it were said the opposite, it would be more correct, for worship to other than Allah is a greater disbelief than seeking help from other than Allah. And on this basis, if one slaughters for other than Allah, drawing near to Him thereby, it is forbidden, even if he says 'In the name of Allah' over it, as a group of the hypocrites of this Ummah do, who may draw near to the stars by slaughtering, burning incense, and the like. Even though these are apostates and their slaughtered meat is not permissible under any circumstances, two prohibitions converge in the slaughtered animal:

The Shaykh : Ah?
The student: The time has come and the questions

The Shaykh : I did not finish; the entire study has ended
The reciter: We do not complete these two lines

The Shaykh : Yes
The reciter: I say, we complete the two lines so that the meaning is complete

The Shaykh : The two lines
The Reader: Yes.

The Shaykh : Very well.
The reciter: "In fact, if it were said the opposite, it would be more correct, for worship to other than Allah is a greater disbelief than seeking help from other than Allah. And on this basis, if one slaughters for other than Allah, drawing near to Him thereby, it is forbidden, even if he says 'In the name of Allah' over it, as a group of the hypocrites of this Ummah do, who may draw near to the stars by slaughtering, burning incense, and the like.
