Reading from the author's text with commentary and collation of manuscripts

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "such as the grave of a righteous person or al-Masjid al-Aqsa. This is analogous to 'Arafah, unlike the mosque of a city, which is intended by its type, not by its specific identity. The type of mosques is what is prescribed to be intended, for the one who comes to a mosque does not intend a specific place whose name and ruling do not change; rather, the purpose is a house among the houses of Allah, such that if that mosque were moved, its ruling would move with it. For this reason, hearts are attached only to the type of mosque, not to its specific identity"

The Shaykh : Correct. And if you see that your heart is attached to this specific mosque, erase this from your heart. Hearts are attached to mosques by their genus, considering the genus.
Someone might say, "Do you not say that the old is more preferred than the new?" We say, yes. But why did you intend this mosque? For the virtue of its location, or because it is old? The second one, yes.
The reader: "Furthermore, traveling to a place for the act of definition, such as Hajj"

The Shaykh : And furthermore
The reader: "Furthermore, traveling to a place for the act of definition, such as Hajj, is different from a city. Do you not see that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said
Do not travel except to three mosques: al-Masjid al-Haram, al-Masjid al-Aqsa, and this mosque of mine لا تشد الرحال إلا إلى ثلاثة مساجد المسجد الحرام والمسجد الأقصى ومسجدي هذا
Sahih Ibn Hibban 9:177
This is a matter in which I know of no disagreement. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade traveling to any mosque other than these three, and it is known that a man's coming to the mosque of his city is either obligatory, such as Jumu'ah, or recommended"
