Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace upon the noblest of the prophets and messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
As for what follows, Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim:

The Shaykh : And they differed.
The reader: "And our scholars and others differed on whether it is permissible to travel to visit it? There are two opinions: The first is that it is not permissible, and the traveler to visit it"

The Shaykh : And the traveler
The reader: "and the traveler to visit it commits a sin, and it is not permissible to shorten the prayer there. This is the opinion of Ibn Battah, Ibn Aqil, and others, because this travel is a religious innovation, it did not exist in the era of the Salaf, and it includes what will follow of the meanings of prohibition. And because in the two Sahihs, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said:
Do not travel except to three mosques: al-Masjid al-Haram, al-Masjid al-Aqsa, and this mosque of mine لا تُشد الرحال إلا إلى ثلاثة مساجد : المسجد الحرام، والمسجد الأقصى، ومسجدي هذا
Sahih Ibn Hibban 9:177
"

The Shaykh : We must know what is meant by this hadith. One does not travel with the specific intention of going to a place except for these three mosques. However, if one travels for visiting, trade, seeking knowledge, or the like, there is no harm in it.
By this, we know the error of those who objected to some of the brothers who travel to another country to listen to a preacher's sermon, which they find moving or the like. It is said: These people did not travel for the honor of the place, but for another purpose. As for traveling with the intention of going to any place, it is not prescribed except for these three mosques.
Some of them said: Do not travel to any of the mosques, specifying it, except for these three mosques, and said that the exception indicates this.
But the closer view is that it is general, and that one does not travel with the intention of going to any place on earth except for these three mosques. Yes.
