The questioner : The content of the letter is that Rajja 'Abdullah is complaining about her husband's treatment of her and his excessive travel, to the extent that he travels twenty days a month and does not leave her sufficient maintenance for herself and her child, and then for her two children in the end, because another child was born to her. She says, "Because of my husband's absence from me for this period, and given my need and necessity for food and the like, I have committed very serious crimes. Do I have any repentance? What is the way out? And what is my husband's obligation? May Allah guide you and bless you?"
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. We say: As for the great crimes you have committed, the door of repentance is open to whoever repents to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), as He the Exalted said:[Az-Zumar 39:53-54] up to the end of what Allah mentioned in the verses. So you must repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), seek His forgiveness, and rectify your deeds. Whoever repents and does good, then Allah the Exalted will accept his repentance, if the repentance is sincere. As for your husband's neglect of you, your husband has committed a great error in this and has not fulfilled what Allah has made obligatory upon him regarding the rights of the wife, including treating her with kindness, and providing her with food, clothing, and housing, so that what is among the greatest interests of marriage is realized, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated in his saying: Sunan an-Nasa'i 2242Sahih (Darussalam) So our advice to your husband is that he fear Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) in you, and that he fulfill what Allah has made obligatory for you regarding treating you with kindness and providing you with food, clothing, and housing in the manner that is befitting. Yes.

(53) Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (54) And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.
