Reading from the author's text with commentary and collation of manuscripts: "But the purpose is to clarify this first category

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "But the purpose is to clarify this first category, which is the exaltation of places that have no special status, either with the knowledge that they have no special status, or without knowing whether they have a special status, since worship and action without knowledge is prohibited, just as worship and action that contradicts knowledge is prohibited. Had the regulation".

The Shaykh : And on this basis, the matters are three: that we know it is beloved to Allah, that we know it is not beloved to Allah, that we do not know it is beloved to Allah, meaning: we do not know this nor that, so what is prescribed?
The student: That which is beloved to Allah.

The Shaykh : That we know it is beloved to Allah, as for what we know is not beloved, or that which we do not know is beloved, it is prohibited, because the original ruling in acts of worship is prohibition except with evidence. Yes.
The reader: "Had the regulation of these matters been part of the religion, it would not have been neglected, nor would the preserved religion of the community, which is protected from error, have been lost. You will find most of the stories related to this among the gatekeepers and those who reside near the shrines, who consume the wealth"

The Shaykh : In my copy "and those who reside near them" is there a copy in yours?
The reader: No, Shaykh, it says: in the copy with "ba" (by).

The Shaykh : The apparent reading with "ba" (by) is better, because if the one residing near it does not believe it is a means of nearness, there is nothing on him.
The reader: "You will find most of the stories related to this among the gatekeepers and those who reside near them, who consume people's wealth unjustly and turn people away from the path of Allah. Stories with an impact may be narrated, such as: a man making a supplication at it and it being answered, or vowing to it that if Allah fulfilled his need"

The Shaykh : Was fulfilled or if it was fulfilled.
The reader: He pointed to the "ta" ... "if his need was fulfilled" copy.

The Shaykh : Yes.
The reader: "Or vowing to it that if Allah fulfilled his need, his need was fulfilled, and the like. It was with such matters that the idols were worshipped, for the people sometimes addressed the idols"

The Shaykh : Perhaps it is "they are addressed," they are addressed with an open "ta".
The reader: "For the people sometimes addressed the idols, and perhaps their needs were fulfilled if they intended them, and so it happens for the people of the abodes of the Hindus and others. It may be compared to what Allah has prescribed to be exalted, such as His fenced House and the Black Stone which Allah has prescribed to be touched and kissed as if it were His right hand, and the mosques which are His houses. The sun and the moon were worshipped through comparisons, and with such doubts shirk (associating partners with Allah) occurred among the people of the earth".

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest.
The reader: "It is authentic
Ibn Umar reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) forbade (people) taking vows, and said: It does not (necessarily) bring good (in the form of substantial, and tangible results), but it is the meant whereby something is extracted from the miserly persons. عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه نهى عن النذر، وقال : إنه لا يأتي بخير، وإنما يستخرج به من البخيل
Sahih Muslim 1639c
If the vow of obedience conditioned on a condition has no benefit and does not bring good, what is the expectation of a vow"
.

The Shaykh : ...
The reader: "As for the answering of supplication, its cause may be the supplicant's distress and sincerity, or it may be the mere mercy of Allah for him, or it may be a matter decreed by Allah not because of his supplication, or it may have other causes, even if it is a trial for the supplicant, for we know that the disbelievers may have their supplications answered"

The Shaykh : These are the causes of the answering of supplication. First: distress, distress and sincerity of the request. So the distressed person, when he supplicates to Allah the Exalted, Allah answers him even if he is a disbeliever. Have you not seen the polytheists in the depths of the sea, when they supplicate to Allah, He answers them, even though He (Glorified and Exalted is He) knows that they will associate partners with Him afterwards, but the distress and sincerity of the request is what necessitated the answering of his supplication.
And its cause may be the mere mercy of Allah, not because he is at this grave or the like of that.
And its cause may be a matter decreed by Allah not because of the supplication, meaning this matter is decreed beforehand whether he supplicates or not, so it occurs at the time of supplication not by the supplication.
And it may have other causes, among them: the trial he referred to. Allah may answer a person's supplication as a trial for him, either he is tried by his status and rank and says he is a wali (close friend of Allah), that he is one whose supplication is answered, or there is a trial for him in the thing he supplicated for, such as the facilitation of means of sin, for example, and the like of that.
The important thing is that the causes of supplication are many. Yes.
