The reader: "And what some people narrate"
The Shaykh : And what, and what they narrate.
The reader: "And what some people narrate that he said: If you are confused in matters, seek the help of the people of the graves, or something similar to this, this is a fabricated and false statement, agreed upon by the scholars, and what clarifies this are matters:
The first is that it has become clear that the reason (‘illah) for which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited praying at the graves is so that it not be taken as a means to a type of shirk (associating partners with Allah) by lingering at them and the hearts becoming attached to them out of hope and fear.
And it is known that the state of the one in dire necessity in supplication, upon whom a calamity has befallen, who supplicates to bring about good, such as seeking rain, or to remove evil, such as seeking aid, in his being tempted by the graves—if he hopes for a response at them—is greater than the state of the one who performs the obligatory prayer at them in a state of well-being, for most of those who pray in a state of well-being, their hearts are hardly tempted by this except slightly, as for the supplicants in dire necessity, their temptation by this is very great".
The Shaykh : Especially if the supplication is answered; sometimes Allah (Mighty and Majestic) tempts some people and answers the supplication in a state where it is forbidden, as a trial for them. So if this man supplicated at the grave and Allah answered him, he will be tempted and say: I was answered only because I supplicated at the grave, so he will be tempted by this. Therefore, it is obligatory for a person to beware of the saying of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He):[Al-A'raf 7:182] May Allah protect us from that, yes.
The reader: "If the harm and trial for which the prohibition of prayer was established is realized in the state of these people"
The Shaykh : In my copy, in these people, state?
The reader: It says: state is missing from A or T.
The Shaykh : It is better with state.
The reader: "If the harm and trial for which the prohibition of prayer was established is in the state of these people, then the prohibition for them is more emphatic and more emphatic. This is clear to one who understands the religion of Allah and it becomes clear to him what the Hanafis brought of the pure religion for Allah, and he knows the perfection of the Sunnah of the Imam of the Pious in purifying tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and negating shirk by every means"
The Shaykh : Associating partners with Allah.
The reader: A scribal error?
The Shaykh : Yes, it is a scribal error, because tawhid (the oneness of Allah) is opposed by shirk (associating partners with Allah).
