The Shaykh : And the correct view is that the stronger position is that it is disliked, because the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and he did not do that. Rather, there is a report from him indicating the opposite Sunan Abi Dawud 3221Sahih (Al-Albani) and it is not reported that he recited or ordered recitation.
So the correct view is that it is disliked. Then, if this door is opened, it leads to much evil, because whoever restricts the recitation might continue to recite the entire Qur'an over him, and in this there occurs wailing, lamentation, and other such things.
Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) became free from burying the dead, he used to stay at him (i.e. his grave) and say: Seek forgiveness for your brother, and beg steadfastness for him, for he will be questioned now.
