"The Seal of the Prophets": The seal of them, meaning the last of them. So by him, and through them, and by him, they were sealed, (peace and blessings be upon him). Then, "al-Khatim" (the Seal) is also more eloquent than "al-Khatm" (the sealing), because "al-Khatim" is like a stamp on a thing, and a stamp only comes after completion.

The Shaykh :"The Seal of the Prophets": The seal of them, meaning the last of them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) compared himself with the prophets to the position of a man who built a palace, and people would pass by it and marvel at it, except for the place of one brick that remained unbuilt. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: meaning that by him the building was completed. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Seal of the Prophets; Allah sealed the prophethood with him. He is like a stamp on his prophethood and upon it. So whoever claims that any person will be a prophet after him has committed disbelief in Allah (Mighty and Majestic), because he has lied about the Qur'an.
