And of the way of those who go to extremes in it are those who likened it to creation or strained themselves to ask how its meaning is.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And of the way of those who go to extremes in it are those who likened it to creation or strained themselves to ask how its meaning is".
This is a third path. These people went to extremes in affirming the attributes. They went to extremes in affirming the attributes. They affirmed for Allah what He affirmed for Himself, but they went to extremes. And going to extremes means excess. From this comes the saying that the pot boiled over, because when it boils over, what happens? It rises.
These people went to extremes in affirming the attributes. They said: We affirm that Allah rose above the Throne in reality, and that the meaning of rising above the Throne is as one of us sits on a chair. Who are these people? They are the likeners who went to extremes in affirming the attributes. And they said: Allah has a hand, and His hand is like our hands. They went to extremes in affirming the attributes. Do we disavow this path? Yes, we disavow this path, because it contains going to extremes.
So we disavow three paths:
The first path: The path of the distorters who affirmed for it a meaning that Allah and His Messenger do not intend.
The second: The path of the deniers of the divine attributes who denied it of the intended meaning, but did not mention another meaning. These are the ones who leave it to Allah without asking how.
And the third: The path of whom? The path of those who go to extremes in affirming the attributes, who affirmed it with likening Allah to creation.
We disavow all of these three paths.
So if someone says: Why do we not follow the middle path of the three, which is: silence?
We say: This is forbidden, because silence means denial of the divine attributes. And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says:
So that they may reflect upon its verses. ليدبروا آياته
.
And this silence, the Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "It is the worst of the sayings of the people of innovation and atheism". And some people think it is good, while it is evil. And the wonder is that some of the knowledgeable people, of whom we hold a good opinion, think that this is the methodology of the Sunnah, the methodology of the people of the Sunnah, and the methodology of the Salaf. And it is the way of what? Leaving it to Allah without asking how, and that we say we do not know.
For this reason, the false, contradictory, and invalid statement is reported from them, which is their saying: The path of the Salaf is safer, and the path of the later generations is more knowledgeable and more precise.
This is a false, invalid, and contradictory statement, because the reality of the matter is that the path of the Salaf is safer, more knowledgeable, and more precise. Yes.
