The Manifestation of the Wisdom of Allah the Exalted, in That He Prescribed in These Books for Every Nation What Is Suitable for Them
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"Second: The manifestation of the wisdom of Allah, in that He prescribed in these books for every nation what is suitable for them", etc.
All the laws that came in the books revolve around two principles:
The first: What pertains to the worship of Allah.
And the second: What pertains to the dealings with the servants of Allah.
As for the first, the laws do not differ in their fundamentals. The first, which pertains to the worship of Allah, the laws do not differ in their fundamentals.
As for the second, they differ greatly.[Al-Ma'idah 5:48] He prescribes for the servants what benefits them in their religion and their worldly affairs. And so, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah, he found them pollinating the date palms. They were pollinating the date palms. Do you know what pollination is? Do you know what pollination is? You? No, no. Yes, indeed. Do you know it? What is it?
The student: ... .
The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: ... .
The Shaykh : Yes, indeed. Pollination is the process of transferring pollen. One takes the pollen from the male date palm and places it in the female date palm, and then the fruit becomes good. If that is not done, the fruit becomes bad and inedible.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah and found them doing this. They would climb up to the male palms and come down, and climb up to the female palms and come down. It was repetitive and a waste of time. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not know about date palms, meaning: he did not know that this thing was done with them. Otherwise, he knew about date palms in the Qur'an, in the Meccan Qur'an. But he said: "I do not see that this will be of any benefit," or words to that effect. When the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said this, the Companions thought it was revelation. So they said, "Praise be to Allah who has relieved us." So we will not climb the male palms or the female palms. They left the pollination that year, and the fruit appeared, here? Bad, dry, and inedible. So they came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said—I think—:. The meaning is that He is more knowledgeable about the crafts in which your benefit lies, not more knowledgeable about the rulings. The rulings of the Shari'ah cover matters of religion and the world, but how do we do it? How do we fix it? He is more knowledgeable. For this reason, if any one of you were to ask us, are we more knowledgeable or your family about the craft of cooking dinner? Yes, the family. I do not know about bachelors; perhaps they turn out to be good. But in any case, every person is more knowledgeable about what he practices. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . So look at how the Shari'ah, how Allah (Mighty and Majestic) prescribed for every people what is suitable for their condition and their time. [Al-Ma'idah 5:48].
He says: "The manifestation of the wisdom of Allah the Exalted, in that He prescribed in these books for every nation what is suitable for them, and the last of these books was the great Qur'an" No, "and the last of these books, the great Qur'an, was suitable for all creation in every age and place until the Day of Resurrection".
The Noble Qur'an must necessarily be suitable for creation until the Day of Resurrection. Why? Because it is the book of creation until the Day of Resurrection. The previous books were temporary books, suitable in their time, and not suitable in other times. But this Qur'an, what is it? It is suitable for every time and place and nation, because there is no book after it. And since there is no book after it, it must necessarily be suitable for every time and place, because people's needs will change.
And for this reason, it is obligatory for the student of knowledge, regarding the handling of the new transactions that occur in our time, to do everything possible to apply these transactions to what? To the texts of the Shari'ah. And he should not forbid people from what they are afflicted with except what the evidence indicates is forbidden, in a way that allows a person to prevent the servants of Allah from what they are doing. In other words, he should not be hasty. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to consider the circumstances, even in the case of riba (usury or interest). Even in the case of riba, he considered the circumstances. Do you agree with this? May Allah reward you with good. Say no. I like it when you say no, so that we know. No, right away.
All right. Selling fresh dates for dried dates is forbidden. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about selling fresh dates for dried dates, and he said:Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 20:136. It is not permissible. But he granted a dispensation for 'araya (exchanging fresh dates for dried dates for immediate consumption), he granted a dispensation for 'araya, considering the circumstances of the people.
What is 'araya? 'Araya is when a poor man, a poor man, has dried dates from last year. Dried dates. When the people started harvesting this fresh date harvest, the good, delicious harvest, he had only dried dates. He had no money to buy with.
