The Shaykh :"Among the fruits of faith in the Books:
First: knowing the mercy of Allah the Exalted". The author focuses on what pertains to Allah Mighty and Majestic, because that is the root of all roots. The root of all roots is faith in Allah Mighty and Majestic. The root of all roots is faith in Allah, love of Allah, magnification of Allah, humility before Allah, and repentance to Allah; this is the root of everything.
"First: knowing the mercy of Allah and His care for His creation, for He sent down a Book for every people to guide them thereby". Had Allah willed, He would not have sent down a Book, nor sent a Messenger, but no one is more eager to accept an excuse than Allah Mighty and Majestic. He sent down the Books as a mercy to the servants, and He sent the Messengers as a mercy to the servants[Al-Anbya 21:107]. Through this, the mercy of Allah Mighty and Majestic and His care for creation become clear to us, and that He did not leave them to their own intellects. If we were left to our own intellects, would it be possible for us to know how to perform ablution? The answer is: No, nor how to pray, nor how to pay zakah, nor how to fast. But Allah had mercy on us by sending down the Books and sending the Messengers so that we might be guided thereby to Allah Mighty and Majestic.
