Giving thanks to the Exalted for this great blessing.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"Second: Giving thanks to the Exalted for this great blessing". What is it? The sending of the messengers is a great, immense blessing, more eloquent than any blessing in this world, no matter how great it may be. That Allah sent these messengers. If we believe that it is a blessing and that it is obligatory to give thanks for it, then we will take care of what the messengers (peace and blessings be upon them) brought, in terms of knowledge, understanding, and action. For this reason, the Exalted said:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you كتاب أنزلناه إليك مبارك
[Sad 38:29]
Do not?
So that they may reflect upon its verses. ليدبروا آياته
This is the understanding.
and that those of understanding would be reminded. وليتذكر أولوا الألباب
[Sad 38:29]
This is the action. The Qur'an was not revealed merely for recitation alone; it was revealed for recitation for its blessing, for each letter is ten good deeds, but more important than that is reflecting upon the verses and understanding them. And the second is acting upon them
that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. ليدبروا آياته وليتذكر أولو الألباب
[Sad 38:29]
.
The Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "If people were given a book, for example a book of medicine, to act upon it—take this book and act upon it in medicine—would it be possible for the one who took this book to know medicine through it? Would it be possible for him to do without someone who explains it to him? Yes? No, and it is absolutely impossible for him to leave it without understanding its meaning. And this is medicine for the body for a transient matter, so how about the medicine for the hearts, which is the Qur'an? Therefore, it is necessary that we understand the meanings of this Qur'an so that we may act upon it".
