He says: I quarreled with my wife and got angry at her words, so I said to her, "You are divorced." Then I said to her again, "You are divorced." I left the room where she was, and she has not yet left the house we live in. She wants to stay with her children. What is the ruling in this case?

The questioner : He says: I quarreled with my wife and got angry at her words, so I said to her, "You are divorced." Then I said to her again, "You are divorced." I left the room where she was, and she has not yet left the house we live in. She wants to stay with her children. What is the ruling in this case?

The Shaykh : The ruling in this case is that if this divorce was not preceded by two prior divorces, you should take her back. You take her back, and this is considered one divorce. The way to take her back is to say to her, "I have taken you back," or to call two witnesses and say, "I have taken back my wife," or to go to her and have intercourse with her with the intention of taking her back. This is the taking back. However, along with this answer, I warn you against letting anger take control of you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was approached by a man who said, "O Messenger of Allah, advise me." He said:
Do not get angry لا تغضب
He repeated this several times, saying:
Do not get angry لا تغضب
Anger is an ember that Satan throws into the heart of the son of Adam until it causes him to lose his sense and perception. Therefore, one must be cautious of it and control oneself.

The questioner : This is a message from Sister N. from Jordan.
