What is the ruling on raising one’s voice in the mosque?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : For what purpose is one raising his voice in the mosque?

The questioner : ... Sometimes they raise their voices ...

The Shaykh : As for the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) mosque, it is prohibited to raise one’s voice there, to the extent that “When ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) heard two men whose voices had risen, he said, ‘If it were not that you are from the people of al-Ta’if—meaning, if you were from the people of this city—I would have beaten you severely’”. As for other mosques, there is no doubt that lowering one’s voice is a matter of proper conduct, without any doubt.
