Benefits of the Hadith: (The Hour will not stand until people compete in showing off in the mosques)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : One of the benefits of this hadith is the affirmation of the standing of the Hour, which is a matter established by the Qur'an, the Sunnah, and scholarly consensus. It is one of the pillars of faith, as he said, what?
The Hour will not stand لا تقوم السّاعة
So whoever denies the standing of the Hour has committed disbelief, because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) affirmed it in the Qur'an, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) affirmed it in the Sunnah, and the Muslims have agreed upon it. And every person who denies a report that Allah and His Messenger informed about, without figurative interpretation, is a liar, because this is the denial. As for figurative interpretation, it is looked into: if the text allows for figurative interpretation, it is a doubtful matter that prevents his apostasy; but if it does not allow for it, then his figurative interpretation is not called figurative interpretation, but is called distortion of a text's meaning, and it does not benefit its owner.
One of the benefits of this hadith is the affirmation of a sign of the signs of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), as he said:
The Last Hour will not come until people vie لا تقوم السّاعة حتّى يتباهى
Sunan Abi Dawud 449Sahih (Al-Albani)
And did this happen? Yes, this happened. People have competed in showing off in the mosques since ancient times, and they continue to increase in their showing off.
And one of the benefits of this hadith is the indication that it is better that the showing off not be in the mosques. What is the reason? That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) mentioned this hadith by way of blame and the weakness of faith in the souls.
And one of the benefits of this hadith is the refutation of those who criticized those who built the mosques in a humble manner and said, "Glory be to Allah, you build your house in an ornate and grand manner, and the house of Allah is more deserving." And the other says, "How are the churches built in a luxurious, grand, and improved manner, while the mosques of the Muslims are not treated this way?" We say that the Muslims are not concerned with appearances, but rather what concerns them is the meanings for which the mosques were built, which are establishing the ritual prayer, reciting the Qur'an, the remembrance of Allah, and the like.
