How does one pray if he does not memorize al-Fatihah but memorizes some of the Qur'an? And what is the ruling on one who does not memorize except a part of it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Whatever is easy. Al-Fatihah is clear. If he does not know al-Fatihah but knows some of the Qur'an, he recites verses and words equal in number to it.

The questioner : If someone says, "What if I recite, meaning, three verses of al-Fatihah?"

The Shaykh : Huh?

The questioner : If one person recites three verses of al-Fatihah and then bows?

The Shaykh : It suffices for him, if he recites al-Fatihah...

The questioner : Not all of it, O Shaykh, only a part of it.

The Shaykh : Meaning, he does not know except a part of al-Fatihah?

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : He does not know except a part of al-Fatihah?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : He recites what he knows, meaning, if we suppose he knows up to
It is You we worship and You we ask for help. إيّاك نعبد وإيّاك نستعين
[Al-Fatihah 1:5]
.

The questioner : ... whatever is easy from the Qur'an?

The Shaykh : No, no, al-Fatihah must be recited in its entirety
There is no Salat for the one who does not recite Fatihatil-Kitab. لا صلاة لمن لم يقرأ بفاتحة الكتاب
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 247Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : This is clear in some of the wordings in the hadith itself; in some of its wordings from another narration, it is called the Mother of the Book. But this man was ignorant, so the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to recite whatever was easy. And this understanding that you presented is the understanding of some people regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted:
then whoever performs 'umrah [during the Hajj months] followed by Hajj [offers] what can be obtained with ease of sacrificial animals فمن تمتّع بالعمرة إلى الحجّ فما استيسر من الهدي
[Al-Baqarah 2:196]
And he said, "What was easy for me of the sacrificial animals was only a sheep that is not more than three months or two months old, or a camel that is two years old?" Is this correct? No, there must be conditions specified in the Shari'ah. Yes, Salim?

The questioner : May Allah forgive you, O Shaykh... the camels we know... they call them rakab.

The Shaykh : Rakab.

The questioner : And the ones in the rear, they do not call them rakab, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : They do not call them rakab?

The questioner : No.

The Shaykh : Yes.
