The questioner : He has another question in which he says: I prayed 'Asr, Maghrib, and 'Isha' in clothes that had some ritual impurity on them, and I did not remember this until after I had finished the 'Isha' prayer. So, is it obligatory for me to make up these prayers in this case, or what should I do? Please inform us. May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : We also say: If you prayed in clothes that were ritually impure and you forgot to wash them before you prayed, and you did not remember until after you had finished your prayer, then your prayer is valid and you do not have to repeat this prayer. This is because you committed this prohibited act while forgetting. And Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. رَبَّنَا لا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِنْ نَسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
So Allah the Exalted said:
He has done so قد فعلت
And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) once prayed in his sandals, and there was filth in them. So, while he was in the middle of the prayer, Jibril informed him of this, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took them off while he was praying, and he did not restart the prayer. This indicates that if one becomes aware of ritual impurity during the prayer, he should remove it, even during the prayer, and continue in his prayer if he can remain with his 'awrah covered after removing it. Likewise, if one forgets and remembers during the prayer, he should remove this ritually impure garment if he still has something to cover his 'awrah with. However, if he finishes his prayer and then remembers after finishing, or learns of it after finishing his prayer, then he does not have to repeat it, and his prayer is valid. This is unlike the man who prays while forgetting to perform wudu', such as if he had a state of minor or major ritual impurity and forgot to perform wudu', then prayed, and remembered after finishing his prayer that he had not performed wudu'. In that case, it is obligatory for him to perform wudu' and repeat the prayer.
Likewise, if he was in a state of major ritual impurity and did not know about it, such as if he had a wet dream at night and prayed Fajr without performing the full ritual bath out of ignorance, and then during the day he saw semen on his clothes from his sleep, it is obligatory for him to perform the full ritual bath and repeat what he prayed. The difference between this and the first issue, namely the issue of ritual impurity, is that ritual impurity falls under the category of leaving a prohibited act, whereas wudu' and the full ritual bath fall under the category of performing a commanded act. Performing a commanded act is a matter of creation that a person must carry out, and the act of worship is not complete without its presence. As for removing ritual impurity, it is a matter of absence; the prayer is not complete without its absence. So, if it is present during the prayer due to forgetfulness or ignorance, it does not harm, because he did not miss anything that is required to be present in his prayer. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
