The questioner : In his first question, he says: An imam who forgot to pray the 'Asr prayer and entered into the Maghrib prayer, and during the prayer he remembered that he had not prayed 'Asr, what should he do in this situation?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. This imam who forgot the 'Asr prayer and entered into the Maghrib prayer, and remembered during the prayer that he had not prayed 'Asr, should continue in the Maghrib prayer. When he completes it, he should then perform the 'Asr prayer.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : His 'Asr prayer is valid at that time. Yes.

The questioner : Meaning, he is not required to cut off the prayer, exit it, and pray?

The Shaykh : He is not required to.

The questioner : He is not required to.

The Shaykh : In fact, it is not permissible for him either, because he has begun an obligatory prayer, and when a person begins an obligatory prayer, he is required to complete it except for a valid religious excuse.

The questioner : Does this ruling apply even if he was praying alone?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Even if he was praying alone...

The Shaykh : If he was praying alone.

The questioner : Yes.
