Among the benefits of these noble verses in the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Fussilat 41:8] is the realization that the Qur'an is *muthani* (repeated), in which opposing meanings are repeated: when the reward of the sinners is mentioned, the reward of the righteous is mentioned, and when Paradise is mentioned, the Fire is mentioned, and so on. This is so that a person may proceed to his Lord between fear and hope. Likewise, a person should be fearful and hopeful in his journey to his Lord, as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Anbya 21:90] So what is the cause of fear? The cause of fear is a person's sins; when he looks at his sins and his shortcomings, he fears, as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Mu'minun 23:60] meaning they fear that it will not be accepted from them. And hope: when he looks at the pardon of Allah and His grace, and that He (Exalted and Majestic is He) is forbearing, he hopes, and his hope becomes strong. Thus, he remains between fear and hope. Some scholars said: In obedience, one should emphasize the aspect of hope, and in disobedience, one should emphasize the aspect of fear. This has a strong basis, because when a person performs an act of obedience, he should have a good opinion of Allah and that Allah will accept it from him, so his hope becomes strong. But when he intends to commit a sin, he should emphasize the aspect of fear so that he does not fall into disobedience.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is that faith alone is not sufficient unless it is accompanied by action. However, when faith is mentioned in a general sense, it includes action. And when action is mentioned with it, the action becomes the outward manifestation and the faith becomes the inward secret, such as:[Al-Baqarah 2:277] Here, faith and action are combined, so faith is in the heart and action is in the limbs.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is the continuity of the bliss of the believers who do righteous deeds, as He said:[Fussilat 41:8] meaning it is not cut off, as Allah the Exalted said: [Maryam 19:62].
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that the reward of the Hereafter is better than the reward of this world and its recompense. The explanation of this is that the reward of the Hereafter is not cut off, but it is continuous and eternal, and it is not given with any favor or obligation, but the person is given it without any claim of favor. As for the recompense of this world, it is the opposite.
Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them is a reward uninterrupted.
Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear
And they who give what they give while their hearts are fearful
And among the benefits of this noble verse is that faith alone is not sufficient unless it is accompanied by action. However, when faith is mentioned in a general sense, it includes action. And when action is mentioned with it, the action becomes the outward manifestation and the faith becomes the inward secret, such as:
Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds
And among the benefits of this noble verse is the continuity of the bliss of the believers who do righteous deeds, as He said:
for them is a reward uninterrupted.
لهم أَجْرٌ غيرُ ممنونand they will have their provision therein, morning and afternoon.
