The Shaykh : No, this is the wisdom in Allah’s saying:
except those who are patient, and none is granted it except one having a great portion [of good]. إلا الذين صبروا وما يلقاها إلا ذو حظ عظيم
[Fussilat 41:35]
because a person attains a high and exalted rank in terms of character, composure, manliness, and all reward. The great fortune is not that a person’s dirhams and dinars increase. Character is everything, whether in relation to Allah or in relation to the servants of Allah.
Nations are defined by their character as long as they remain; if they waver, their character departs, and they depart.
