The Shaykh : Then Allah, the Exalted, said:
And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned
[Ash-Shuraa 42:30]
His statement:
And what has befallen you وما أصابكم
this is a conditional sentence, I mean the word "what," its answer is
it is for what your hands have earned
[Ash-Shuraa 42:30]
and his statement:
for what your hands have earned
[Ash-Shuraa 42:30]
"
And what has befallen you وما أصابكم
is an address to the believers
any disaster من مصيبة
"
an explanation of "what," he said: " a calamity and hardship
it is for what your hands have earned
[Ash-Shuraa 42:30]
and overlooking much ويعفوا عن كثير
[Al-Ma'idah 5:15]
of it, so He does not punish for it, and He, the Exalted, is too generous to repeat the punishment in the Hereafter, as for those who do not sin, what befalls them in this world is to raise their ranks in the Hereafter "
, well, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
And whatever strikes you of disaster
[Ash-Shuraa 42:30]
the commentator specified this to the believers, and the reason for the specification is that he said:
and overlooking much ويعفوا عن كثير
[Al-Ma'idah 5:15]
and the disbelievers are not worthy of forgiveness, and his statement:
any disaster من مصيبة
he said: a calamity and hardship, and it includes religious misfortunes and worldly misfortunes, and which is greater? Religious misfortunes, for they are greater than worldly misfortunes, so if it were that someone was afflicted with a relapse, may Allah protect us, it is more severe than the destruction of his family and wealth, for religious misfortunes are far greater than worldly misfortunes, since worldly misfortunes disappear and are forgotten, as some said: either you have the patience of the noble, or you are consoled like the beasts, it must disappear, religious misfortunes, may Allah protect us, are a loss in this world and the Hereafter, so if someone asks: what is the evidence that turning away is among the misfortunes? The evidence is the statement of Allah, Blessed and Exalted:
And if they turn away - then know that Allah only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins
[Al-Ma'idah 5:49]
so reflect that sins became the cause of their turning away, and turning away is a great misfortune, the important thing is that his statement:
any disaster من مصيبة
includes the misfortunes of this world, such as the loss of wealth, the death of loved ones, fear and poverty, and the like, the misfortunes of religion, such as sins and innovations, hatred of the truth, hatred of the people of truth, and the like, all of it is
it is for what your hands have earned
[Ash-Shuraa 42:30]
it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much.
[Ash-Shuraa 42:30]
meaning He forgives much of what you have sinned, so He does not hold you accountable for it.
