Explanation of the author's statement: And his saying (… a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. Is it with this message that you are being lenient? And you make your provision that you are lying)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, His saying, Exalted is He:
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. تنزيل من رب العالمين
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:80]
This is a second report regarding His saying:
Indeed, he إنه
It is like His saying, Exalted is He:
And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. وإنه لتنزيل رب العالمين
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:192]
and like His saying, Exalted is He:
a revelation from the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful - (3) A Book whose verses have been detailed تنزيل من الرحمن الرحيم كتاب فُصلت آياتُه
[Fussilat 41:2-3]
So it is a repeated report along with His saying:
the Qur'an لقرآن
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. تنزيل من رب العالمين
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:80]
meaning, revealed from Him. So *tanzil* is a verbal noun meaning revealed from the Lord of the worlds. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) through Jibril, due to His saying, Exalted is He:
(192) And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. (193) The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down وإنه لتنزيل رب العالمين نزل به الروح الأمين
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:192-193]
He brought it down, meaning the Qur'an, the trustworthy spirit, Jibril
Upon your heart على قلبك
because it is the place of consciousness and preservation
that you may be of the warners - لتكون من المنذرين
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:194]
And His saying:
from the Lord of the worlds." من رب العالمين
[Al-A'raf 7:61]
meaning: their Creator and their Owner. In it is evidence that this Qur'an was revealed for all of creation, so it contains evidence for the universality of the message of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And the aspect of the evidence, O our brothers, the aspect of the evidence is that it was revealed from the Lord of the worlds to whom? To the worlds. So if it was revealed from their Lord, it means that He is the judge between them. So in His saying:
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. تنزيل من رب العالمين
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:80]
there is evidence that this Qur'an was revealed for all of humanity and that all of humanity is obligated by it, because it was revealed from their Lord. And His saying:
from the Lord of the worlds." من رب العالمين
[Al-A'raf 7:61]
also indicates that the revelation of the Qur'an is from the perfection of the Lordship of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. So if you add "from the Lord of the worlds" to the second verse:
a revelation from the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful - (3) A Book whose verses تنزيل من الرحمن الرحيم كتاب فصلت
[Fussilat 41:2-3]
you know that this Qur'an is mercy, or not? A revelation from the Most Merciful in order to show mercy to the servants through it. So it is mercy, and it is from the perfection of His Lordship, Glorified and Exalted is He. Know that the Lordship of the Lord, Glorified and Exalted is He, is all built upon mercy. And if you wish to know that, read "All praise is to Allah, Lord of the worlds." And what comes after it?
The Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy الرحمن الرحيم
So this indicates that His Lordship is built upon mercy, Glorified and Exalted is He, and that everything He has commanded the servants to do is mercy for them. Yes. He said:
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. تنزيل من رب العالمين
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:80]
And what is the aspect of the evidence? Because He said: a revelation from Him, from the Lord. And it is the speech of the Qur'an. The speech of every [being] is known to be speech, is it not? And not a body that came and descended. Speech is read. So if Allah is the one who revealed it, then it is His speech, Glorified and Exalted is He. So it is His speech, revealed, as the Salaf (may Allah have mercy on them) said. And is it created or not created?
The student: Not created.

The Shaykh : Not created, because it is one of His attributes, and the attributes of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, are not created. All of the attributes of Allah, even the active attributes, it is not permissible for us to say that they are created. Even the active attributes, we do not say that they are created, even though they occur, but they are not created. Rather, they are His action, not His creation. Because creation is an object acted upon, not an action, is it not?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Creation is an object acted upon, not an action. So for example, the heavens, do we say they are the creation of Allah? We say they are the creation of Allah, meaning created, so they are created. But what do we say about the act of bringing them into existence itself? The act of bringing into existence and formation, we say it is the action of Allah, and the action of Allah is not created. So the active and essential attributes of Allah are all not created. And likewise, the Qur'an, the speech of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is not created. Rather, it is revealed. So if someone asks: Is every revealed thing not created? The answer is: No. But every revealed thing that is an attribute attributed to Allah is not created. Otherwise, Allah, Exalted is He, said:
And We sent down iron وأنزلنا الحديد
Iron is created
sent down from the sky, rain أنزل من السماء ماء
[Al-Baqarah 2:22]
and rain is created
and He produced for you from the grazing livestock eight mates أنزل لكم من الأنعام ثمانية أزواج
[Az-Zumar 39:6]
and cattle are created. But if the revealed thing from Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is an attribute that does not stand on its own but stands on something else, it must be that the revealed thing is not created, because it is an attribute of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Then He said, Exalted is He:
Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent أفبهذا الحديث أنتم مدهنون
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:81]
I think we have explained this verse?

The questioner : The meaning of "the worlds."

The Shaykh : Which verse?

The questioner : the worlds

The Shaykh : The angels, everything. The world is everything other than Allah. Yes.

The questioner : Is the meaning mercy... or the mercy of the created?

The Shaykh : No, mercy is created, because "He sent down mercy from Your mercy" in this sense means its effects. And His saying:
Is it with this hadith? أفبهذا الحديث
The question mark. We mentioned that we explained the verse?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Except the beginning of the chapter, what we read. We mentioned that it is for denial and rebuke. And His saying: "with this message," the message referred to is the Qur'an.
you treat it with contempt أنتم مذهنون
What is the meaning of *mudhin*? *Mudhin* is the one who is afraid of others and shows favoritism to them in his speech and action. Meaning, do you show leniency with this message and are you afraid and concealing it? No, it is not befitting for you to do this. Rather, it is befitting for the one with the Qur'an to... what? To proclaim it, to clarify it, to make it apparent, and to strive with it.
and strive against them with the Qur'an a great striving. وجاهدهم به جهادا كبيرا
[Al-Furqan 25:52]
Not to show leniency with it. Yes, you are showing leniency.
And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]? وتجعلون رزقكم أنكم تكذبون
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:82]
You make your provision... what did we say about your provision? We said: It is with an omitted added word according to most exegetes. Meaning: the gratitude for your provision, meaning what Allah gave you. From what? From the rain and from the revelation of the Qur'an, because the verses are in the context of the revelation of the Qur'an. Meaning, you make the gratitude for this great blessing that you lie about it. So even though the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned it in the context of rain, it includes that and other things, even the provision that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, gave us from this great revelation. Some people make this provision... what do they make it? Lying. And some said: The verse does not have an omission, and the meaning is you make your gratitude lying. And he said that gratitude is provision. And is this correct, that gratitude is provision? Yes, it is one of the greatest provisions. Yes. For this reason, the poet says:
"If my gratitude is a blessing of Allah, a blessing upon me, for Him, in its like, gratitude is obligatory
How can the attainment of gratitude be except by His grace, even if the days lengthen and life continues"

If Allah bestows a blessing upon you, then this is [a blessing]. And if you are grateful for it, it is another blessing. This other blessing needs gratitude, a second gratitude. If you are grateful the second time, it is a blessing that needs a third gratitude, and so on forever. For this reason, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them إن تعدوا نعمة الله لا تحصوها
[An-Nahl 16:18]
So if a person were to praise Allah night and day to the extent of his breaths and his glances, he would not reach the extent of the blessing of Allah. For this reason, the poet mentioned this meaning in his saying: "So how can gratitude be attained except by His grace" And what comes after? "And if the days lengthen and life continues" If we had the consciousness of the people of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance. I seek refuge in Allah. This is the blessing of consciousness. The people of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, a person would come and recite a poem of a hundred verses, and when he left, the people had memorized it. We, one person... yes.
The student: ... there is no good in it

The Shaykh : No, and the one with good in it, the important thing is that consciousness and preservation are a gift from Allah, Mighty and Majestic. But I am amazed how we have memorized [it] to this extent regarding the later times. If a person from us is asked about what he did yesterday, he starts to try to remember. And if he remembers, yes.
The result is that the noble verse
and you make your provision وتجعلون رزقكم
Some scholars say it does not need an estimated added word, but the meaning is you make your provision, meaning: your gratitude, and gratitude is provision. And His saying:
that you are lying. أنكم تكذبون
This *anna* and what it entered into is in the interpretation of a verbal noun of the object. You make the second, meaning you become making your gratitude lying. And there is no doubt that this is from foolishness, that a person meets the blessing of his Lord with lying. If it is revelation, he lies about its news, does not obey its command, and does not avoid its prohibition. And if it is a gift of provision by which bodies grow, he attributes it to other than Allah and says this is from the constellation or says this is from my work, like what Qarun said:
I was only given it because of knowledge I have. إنما أوتيته على علم عندي
[Al-Qasas 28:78]
We ask Allah for safety and well-being.
Now, the speech on this great verse is finished. And it is very great for whoever reflects upon it. And it is befitting for us always to reflect upon the noble Qur'an, because it contains great meanings by which the chest expands and worries are cleared. And to strive for it with utmost striving, because it is the speech of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. I believe, and to Allah belongs the highest example, if a king from the kings issued a decree, what would his entourage and those who love him do with this decree? They would repeat it, look at it, and explain it. Rather, if you studied a book of medicine, a book of medicine you study and you want to be a doctor, and you studied a book of medicine, you would pass through its words without searching for their meaning and asking which one? The last one? The speech of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is greater than that it should be cared for and striven for. Yes.
