The follower carrying a mushaf in the tarawih prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: What is the ruling on a follower carrying a mushaf in the tarawih prayer?

A: I am not aware of any basis for this, and the more apparent view is that he should be humble and tranquil, and not take a mushaf. Rather, he should place his right hand over his left hand, as is the Sunnah, placing his right hand over his left palm—the wrist and forearm—and placing them on his chest. This is the stronger and better position.
Taking the mushaf occupies him from these Sunnahs, and it may also occupy his heart and eyes in reviewing the pages and verses, and from listening to the imam. So what I see is that leaving that is the Sunnah, and that he should listen and pay attention, and not use the mushaf. If he has knowledge, he should follow his imam; otherwise, someone else among the people should follow. Then, if it happens that the imam makes a mistake and he does not follow him, that does not harm him in anything other than al-Fatihah. It only harms him specifically in al-Fatihah, because al-Fatihah is a pillar that is necessary. As for if he leaves out some verses other than al-Fatihah, that does not harm him if there is no one behind him to alert him.
If one person were to carry the mushaf for the imam when needed, perhaps there is no harm in that. But for every person to carry a mushaf, that is contrary to the Sunnah.
