What is required for the obligation of zakah on the harvest of a farm

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: M. D. from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, says in his question: We have a farm where birds eat half of its harvest. Is zakah obligatory on the other half when it is sold or stored?

A: Zakah is obligatory on what is harvested from the farm if it reaches the nisab, which is five wasqs, and one wasq is sixty sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) by the sa' of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), provided that what is planted is from the grains and fruits on which zakah is obligatory, such as wheat, barley, rice, dates, grapes, corn, and the like. And success is from Allah.
