Planning his farm for sale: Is zakah obligatory on it?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 20348 )
Q: I have a farm that has been converted into a residential plan, meaning residential plots. Regarding the method of zakah, whenever I sell a residential plot, I pay its zakah. As for the ones I am selling in monthly installments, where a payment is made each month, and the remaining plots that have not been sold, I am asking for clarification on the method of their zakah . Please issue a ruling, may Allah reward you.
A: If the situation is as described, then zakah is obligatory on this
plan once a lunar year has passed since the beginning of the intention to sell it. For what has been sold, zakah is paid from the price. For what has not been sold, its value is estimated in cooperation with experts at the value equal to the plots at the time zakah becomes due, which is the completion of the lunar year at the end of each year, and zakah is paid from its value. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
