Ruling on one whom doctors advised to break his fast for a chronic illness, then he recovered

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: A person was afflicted with a chronic illness, and the doctors advised him not to fast permanently. However, he consulted doctors in another country and was healed by the permission of Allah, that is, after five years. Five Ramadans have passed during which he did not fast. What should he do now that Allah has healed him? Does he have to make up the fasts or not?

Answer: If the doctors who advised him not to fast permanently were trustworthy Muslim doctors who were knowledgeable about the nature of this illness, and they told him that his recovery was not expected, then he does not have to make up the fasts. Feeding the poor is sufficient for him, and he should resume fasting in the future.
