The Shaykh : He said: “And his saying, peace and blessings be upon him,
O Allah. the Lord of the Heavens and the Lord of the Earth and Lord of the Magnificent Throne, our Lord, and the Lord of evervthina, the Splitter of the grain of corn and the datestone
Sahih Muslim 2713a
”
In my copy it is
The Creator خالق
here
The student: ...

The Shaykh : The Opener
The student: In our copy it is “and the earth”
The student: And the earths

The Shaykh : And the earths in your copy?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Yes, and just the earth
The student: I said the earths

The Shaykh : Did I say the earths?!
O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and the earth, and Lord of the Mighty Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, Opener of the kernel and the seed, Descender of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur'an. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self and from the evil of every crawling creature of which You grasp the forelock. You are the First, so there is nothing before You, and You are the Last, so there is nothing after You, and You are the Manifest, so there is nothing above You, and You are the Hidden, so there is nothing beneath You. Settle my debt and make me independent of poverty
Narrated by Muslim
This is a great hadith in which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sought nearness to Allah the Exalted through His Lordship in his saying:
Allahumma Rabbas-samawatis-Sab'i wa Rabbal-'Arshil-'Azim, Rabbana wa Rabba Kulli shay'in
Sunan Ibn Majah 3831Sahih (Darussalam)
This is from the category of generalization after specification.
And Lord of all things
This generalization after specification is so that no one mistakenly assumes that the ruling is restricted to what was specified. Listen or look at His saying, the Exalted:
[Say, O Muhammad], "I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this city, who made it sacred قل إنما أمرت أن أعبد رب هذه البلدة الذي حرمها
[An-Naml 27:91]
And what comes after that?
The student: And to Him belongs all things

The Shaykh :
to whom [belongs] all things
[An-Naml 27:91]
so that no one thinks that what he has is only this town. Yes.
Opener of the kernel and the seed
(Glorified and Exalted is He)
Opener of the kernel
the seeds of crops
And the seed
the pits of trees. So the trees that come out are either crops or planted trees. What is for trees is called a pit (naww), and what is for crops is called a seed (habb).
Opener of the kernel and the seed
This seed is inert, and this pit is dry, dry like a stone; it does not grow or increase. The Lord (Mighty and Majestic) splits it, meaning He opens it, so that the leaves and the crop come out of it. Can anyone do that? No, by Allah, no one can, no matter how far people reach in power, they cannot split a single seed, ever.
The seed is the same; this solid seed, like a stone, does not grow or increase. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, splits it; it splits and opens, and then it becomes the seedling that grows. No one can do that except He who split it, (Glorified and Exalted is He).
Now, when he mentioned the great cosmic sign, he mentioned the legislative signs, which is his saying:
Revealer of the Tawrah, the Injil and the Magnificent Qur'an
Sunan Ibn Majah 3831Sahih (Darussalam)
He began them in chronological order, in chronological order. And in reality, it is not an order of merit; rather, the later one is better than the earlier one, because the later one abrogates the earlier one. Therefore, its later mention does not mean it is lower in rank; rather, the last one is better than the first. And Allah, Mighty and Majestic, arranged them in the Qur'an in this order, saying:
[It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an
[At-Tawbah 9:111]
These great books, the Descender of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur'an. And in this is explicit text that the Torah was sent down, as stated in the Qur'an:
Indeed, We sent down the Torah, and in it is guidance and light.
Yes. And He said, the Exalted, at the beginning of Surat Ali 'Imran:
(3) He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel. (4) Before, as guidance for the people. And He revealed the Qur'an.
[Ali 'Imran 3:3-4]
Yes.
He said:
I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3529Hasan (Darussalam)
Allah is the Greatest. You take refuge in Allah from your own self, meaning the greatest of taking refuge is this; meaning I take refuge in someone other than myself from someone other than myself. I take refuge in this man who has a weapon from whom? From a lion or from an enemy who caught up with me, for example. But I cannot take refuge from my own self in someone other than myself, except if that other person is more merciful to me than I am to myself. Who is that?
The student: Allah

The Shaykh : Allah, Mighty and Majestic. And for this reason he said:
I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3529Hasan (Darussalam)
See, you flee to Allah with your own self from your own self. And with this, you also take refuge from Allah in Allah. (Glorified and Exalted is He). Yes, who protects you from Allah?
The student: Allah

The Shaykh : Allah. And for this reason it came in the hadith:
I seek refuge in You from You.
I seek refuge in You.
