Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said: "And there remains in Paradise a surplus beyond those who enter it from the people of this world". Allah is the Greatest!
The width of Paradise is the heavens and the earth. If the heavens and the earth were stretched out side by side, what would that be? It has no end, because the earth, as you see, is vast, and the farthest heaven from us is vast with a great expanse, and the heaven above it is much wider, and so on, each heaven is wider than the one below it. This is the Paradise whose width is the heavens and the earth. Therefore, it is no wonder that a person sees his angel a journey of a thousand years away, seeing its farthest point as he sees its nearest point. A thousand years, a thousand years for one of the people. Yes, this is the Paradise whose width is the heavens and the earth, and its people enter it, but it does not become full.
And Allah the Mighty and Majestic has undertaken for Paradise and for Hellfire, for each one, to fill it. As for Paradise, a surplus remains in it. What will the action be? All the people of Hellfire are in it; there is no one in it who deserves to be taken out of Hellfire and enter Paradise. But Allah will create for it groups of people and admit them into Paradise. Groups other than the angels, groups of the same kind as humans, whom Allah creates and admits into Paradise until it becomes full.
Fine, without any deed? Yes, without any deed, by the grace and mercy of Allah. It is the opposite of Hellfire. Hellfire is not ceasing to be thrown into, and it says: "Is there any more?" It does not become full, so Allah the Mighty and Majestic places His foot upon it, and it contracts, some of it folding into some of it, and it says: "Enough, enough." Instead of asking at first, "Is there any more?" it says, "Enough, enough, it is sufficient for me, it is sufficient for me." The Hellfire, which is the place of punishment, is filled, but by the Lord placing His foot upon it until some of it contracts into some of it, and it says: "Enough, enough."
What fills Paradise? Does it mean that some of it draws close to some of it? No, but He creates for it groups, and they enter Paradise by the grace and mercy of Allah. And this is evidence, indeed this is the implication of the saying of the Exalted:
Your Lord has written mercy upon Himself كتب ربكم على نفسه الرحمة
and His saying:
My Mercy has preceded My Anger. إن رحمتي سبقت غضبي
Sahih al-Bukhari 7453
.
He said: "and admit them into Paradise".
He said: "And the categories of what the Hereafter contains of the Reckoning"
Categories means types of what it contains of the Reckoning, reward, punishment, Paradise, and Hellfire. The details of that are mentioned in the books revealed from the sky, such as the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, the Scrolls of Ibrahim and Musa, the Great Qur'an, and other books. It is mentioned and made clear, because people need its clarification. People do not stand firm as they are commanded unless they know what lies beyond that obligation for which we are tasked. When what lies beyond it is clarified, they stand firm upon the command that is required of them. For this reason, the books came clarifying and detailing, in a manner of detail, everything that will be in the Hereafter.
