The ruling on the imam pausing so that the ma'mum can recite Surat al-Fatihah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Regarding the recitation of al-Fatihah, making room for the followers to recite al-Fatihah is a religious innovation (bid'ah) that the righteous Salaf did not know. You know that every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire. In particular, this so-called making room for the follower to recite al-Fatihah inverts the system of following the imam, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan an-Nasa'i 921Sahih (Darussalam). As for if it is said to the imam, "Be silent until I recite," and the imam is made a follower and you make yourself his imam, this inverts this legal reality.
The questioner : Our Shaykh, again.
The Imam is appointed to be followed, so when he says the takbir, say the takbir, and when he recites, be silent
إنما جُعِلَ الإمام لِيُؤتَمَّ به ، فإذا كبَّرَ فكبِّروا ، وإذا قرأ فأنصتواThe questioner : Our Shaykh, again.
