Explanation of the author's statement: "And they accept what has come from the Book, the Sunnah, and scholarly consensus regarding their virtues and ranks, and they prefer those who spent in charity before the Conquest, which is the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, and fought, over those who spent after it and fought, and they give precedence to the Muhajireen over the Ansar"

The Shaykh : He said: "And they accept what has come from the Book, the Sunnah, and scholarly consensus" "regarding their virtues and ranks".
Virtues: The plural of virtue, which is what distinguishes a person and is counted as a merit for him.
And ranks: The degrees, for there is no doubt that there are degrees and ranks, as the author (may Allah have mercy on him) will mention.
So whatever has come regarding the virtues and ranks of the Companions, the people of the Sunnah and the community accept it:
They accept, for example, what has come from them regarding the abundance of their prayer, or the abundance of their charity, or the abundance of their fasting.
They accept, for example, what has come regarding Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him)
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged charity, so Abu Bakr came with all his wealth
, and this is a virtue.
They accept what has come from the Book and the Sunnah that Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was alone the companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in his migration.
They accept what has come from the explicit text in the saying of the Messenger (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) regarding Abu Bakr:
That the most trustworthy of the people in terms of wealth and companionship is Abu Bakr
Sahih Ibn Hibban 63:8
.
And likewise what has come regarding 'Umar, and what has come regarding 'Uthman, and what has come regarding 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with them all), and what has come regarding others in terms of virtues, they accept this.
And likewise the ranks, they accept what has come regarding their ranks. And the ranks: the Rightly Guided Caliphs are the peak in this Ummah in rank. And the best of them and the highest in rank is Abu Bakr, then 'Umar, then 'Uthman, then 'Ali, as will come in the words of the author.
He said: "And they prefer those who spent in charity before the Conquest, which is the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, and fought, over those who spent after it and fought and fought"
And the evidence for that is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought [and those who did so after it]. Those are greater in degree than they who spent afterwards and fought
[Al-Hadid 57:10]
So those who spent in charity before the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, those who spent and fought before the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, are better than those who spent after it and fought and fought. When was the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah? It was in the sixth year of the Hijrah in the month of Dhul-Qa'dah. So those who embraced Islam before that, and spent and fought, are better than those who spent after it and fought. Is that clear?
So if someone says: How do we know that this Companion spent and fought before the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, and this Companion spent and fought after the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah?
So the answer is: That is known through Islam and history; one refers to history, such as referring to *Al-Isabah fi Tamyiz al-Sahabah* by Ibn Hajar, or *Al-Ishtiba' fi Ma'rifat al-Ashab* by Ibn 'Abd al-Barr, or other books written about the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). And it is known that this one embraced Islam before, or embraced Islam after. The important thing is that the earlier ones are better than the later ones, and the evidence is:
Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought
[Al-Hadid 57:10]
to the end of it.
"And they prefer the Muhajireen over the Ansar" Is that right?
The student: ...

The Shaykh :"And they give precedence, they give precedence to the Muhajireen over the Ansar" Yes, this is in terms of the general category; the Muhajireen are better than the Ansar because the Muhajireen combined migration and support, while the Ansar were distinguished by support; they did not have migration, meaning they came with support.
The Muhajireen left their wealth, and they left their families, and they left their homelands, and they went out to a land where they were strangers. All of that was migration to Allah and His Messenger and support for Allah and His Messenger.
The Ansar: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to them in their land, in their country, and they supported the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (may Allah be pleased with them), and there is no doubt that they protected him from what they protect their sons and daughters from. So, the Muhajir is given precedence over the Ansari. So if it is said, if someone says: What is the evidence? You have now mentioned the reasoning, so what is the evidence?
The saying of Allah the Exalted:
And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct - Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him
[At-Tawbah 9:100]
So here the Muhajireen are given precedence over the Ansar. And Allah the Exalted said:
Allah has already forgiven the Prophet and the Muhajireen and the Ansar
[At-Tawbah 9:117]
So the Muhajireen were given precedence. And He said regarding the *fay'*:
For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties
[Al-Hashr 59:8]
Then He said:
And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them
[Al-Hashr 59:9]
. This is a textual evidence, as for the rational evidence, you have heard it: that the Muhajireen combined, right? migration and support, yes.
