An elderly woman who is unable to fast: what should she do?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: We have an elderly woman who is unable to fast. What should she do?

Answer: She must feed one poor person for each day with half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the local staple food, such as dates, rice, or something else. By weight, this is approximately one and a half kilograms. A group of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) issued a ruling to this effect, including Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and others. If she is poor and unable to feed them, she owes nothing. This expiation may be given to one person or more, at the beginning, middle, or end of the month. And success is from Allah.
