Question: His Eminence the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the President of the Committee of Senior Scholars and the Department of Islamic Research and Ifta, Shaykh/Abd al-Aziz ibn Baz.
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
I submit my problem to your Eminence. I am a weak woman, my father has passed away, and I have no one but my sister, my mother, and my aunt. A man proposed to me in accordance with the Sunnah of Allah and His Messenger, and he is my maternal cousin. However, the people of evil stood in our way, claiming that I am a Sharif and must only marry a Sharif. I submitted a case to the Qunfudhah Court, which was forwarded to the Qunfudhah Governorate, and through it to the Shuqah Center, to ask: Do I have any 'asabah (residuary male heirs)? But the Shaykh of the tribe refused to respond to the letter sent by the court.
I am a weak woman and I seek privacy. My father has passed away and I have no relatives. I ask your Eminence to look upon me with compassion, and I ask you to address the President of the Qunfudhah Court or his deputy to proceed with my marriage contract to the man I wish to marry. May Allah protect you. Your Eminence has previously issued a fatwa to us, and your Eminence wrote to the office of the judge of the Qunfudhah Court with number (3384) on 17/10/1418 AH, and nothing has changed regarding that.
Answer: And upon you be peace, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
This matter concerns the court, and what the court deems sufficient is sufficient, if Allah wills. There is no harm in a Hashimite woman marrying a non-Hashimite; for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Uthman to his two daughters, Ruqayyah and Umm Kulthum, and he was not a Hashimite. There are many hadiths on this matter. And Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Hujurat: 13], and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1084Da'if (Darussalam) May Allah guide them all.
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:

إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِندَ اللَّهِ أَتْقَاكُمْWhen someone whose religion and character you are pleased with proposes to (someone under the care) of one of you, then marry to him. If you do not do so, then there will be turmoil (Fitnah) in the land and abounding discord (Fasad).
إذا خطب إليكم من ترضون دينه وخلقه فزوجوه؛ إلا تفعلوا تكن فتنة في الأرض، وفساد عريض
