Ruling on saying: "Divorced, then divorced, then divorced" and making her forbidden to himself

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: His Eminence the Shaykh, Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him)
Peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings, and after that:
I refer to Your Eminence’s letter number: 1707, dated 8/11/1398 AH, regarding the inquiry of the husband: S. A. S. about his divorce of his wife, and that he divorced her while angry when she spoke ill of him and confronted him badly, saying: "Divorced, then divorced, then divorced," and making her forbidden to himself, in a state of intense anger, and for Your Eminence’s desire to have her and her guardian present to question everyone about the nature of the incident, and whether his anger was intense or ordinary?
We inform Your Eminence that she has appeared with her guardian—her brother—and we asked her about the nature of the incident. She stated that her husband came while she was sleeping, woke her up, and called her. She said: "I was ill, so I did not respond to him because I was ill. Then he called me again and I refused to respond because I was ill and in an irritable state. Then he called me again and I refused to respond as well, so he divorced me with the three divorces—as you read to me—and he had not divorced me before this time nor after it. I am agreeable to the resumption of the marriage if a Shari'ah ruling is issued. I do not know about his state when he pronounced the divorce: whether his anger was intense or ordinary, because I was ill in my bed."
This is what she declared in the presence of her guardian, so that Your Eminence may be fully informed of what you see fit. May Allah guide you.

Answer: Based on what the aforementioned wife mentioned regarding her illness and her non-admission of his anger, I issued a ruling to him that he has no way to her until she marries another husband; and because he exhausted the three divorces with consecutive words. I ask Allah for a good outcome for everyone, and I hope to notify her and her guardian of the aforementioned ruling. May Allah reward you.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
