The reciter: And Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to me, al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, Safwan ibn 'Amr narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from his father, from 'Awf ibn Malik al-Ash'ari, who said:
I went out with those who went out with Zayd ibn Harithah in the expedition of Mu'tah, and a man from Yemen accompanied me خرجت مع من خرج مع زيد بن حارثة في غزوة مؤتة، ورافقني مددي من اليمن
, and he continued the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in similar terms, except that he said in the hadith:
‘Awf said “I came to him and said “Khalid, do you know that the Apostle of Allaah(ﷺ) had decided to give spoils to the killer? He said “Yes, I thought it abundant. قال عوف : فقلت : يا خالد، أما علمت أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قضى بالسلب للقاتل، قال : بلى، ولكني استكثرته
