Explanation of the author's statement: "...and image-making..."

The Shaykh :"And image-making is forbidden".
Image-making is also forbidden. In fact, image-making has three types. The first is the depiction of what a human makes; this is permissible because the original is permissible, so the image is even more so. If a person draws a car with his hand, and you see it, you say, "This is a replica of the original." We say this is permissible. Why? Because it is the work of a human, as the original is the work of a human. If the original is permissible, the image is even more so.
The second type is depicting that which has no soul, from that which only Allah creates, but which has life, though not a soul, such as depicting trees, crops, and the like. The majority of scholars hold that this is permissible and there is no harm in it. Mujahid said it is forbidden, so it is not permissible for a person to depict a tree, a crop, a pea, or anything else that has life but no soul.
The third type is depicting that which has a soul, from the animals, such as the human, the camel, the cow, the sheep, the rabbit, and others. The Salaf differed on this. Some said it is forbidden if it is three-dimensional, meaning it has a body, and permissible if it is colored, meaning it is not three-dimensional.
Others, who are the majority and whose view is correct, said it is forbidden whether it is three-dimensional or colored. The one who draws with his hand and makes an image is like the one who works and makes it with his hand; there is no difference. It is all forbidden, indeed greater than forbidden, for it is among the major sins. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) even said:Sahih Muslim 2109a.
And unfortunately, in our present age, this has become an art that is studied, approved, and for which a person is praised. If a person depicts, for example, a cow, a camel, or a human, they say, "How skilled he is," "How beautiful," "How capable," and the like. There is no doubt that this is approval of something wrong, indeed approval of something among the major sins. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He):Sahih al-Bukhari 7559 Who is more unjust than the one who wants to compete with the Creator in His creation? No, this is injustice and presumption against Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to want to liken yourself, while you are a created being, to whom? To the Creator. This is among the greatest injustices and encroachments upon the right of Allah. Then Allah challenged them and said: Sahih al-Bukhari 7559 They are not able to do this. They are not able, even if they all gathered, all people from Adam to the Day of Resurrection, have not made a grain of mustard seed, have not created a grain of mustard seed, nor created a grain of barley, or have they?
Well, a boy from among the boys said, "They created a grain of rice," a grain of rice, because it has rice in it, an artificial one that resembles the real one. What do we say? We say this is not the real rice. If you throw this in the ground and pour water on it day and night, it will not grow; it will rot. But what grows is the work of Allah (Mighty and Majestic):[Al-An'am 6:95] So this is not a breaking of this challenge with which Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) challenged the creation: Sahih al-Bukhari 7559.
So we say image-making is forbidden, whether it is three-dimensional or colored, and it is among the major sins. Its doer, even if only once, is thereby stripped of his integrity and becomes an open sinner, unless he repents.

the most grievously tormented people on the Day of Resurrection would be the painters of pictures
أشد الناس عذابا يوم القيامة المصوّرون الذين يضاهئون بخلق اللهAnd unfortunately, in our present age, this has become an art that is studied, approved, and for which a person is praised. ومن أظلم ممن ذهب يخلق كخلقيI challenge them to create even a smallest ant, a wheat grain or a barley grain.

Indeed, Allah is the cleaver of grain and date seeds
إن الله فالقُ الحب والنوىI challenge them to create even a smallest ant, a wheat grain or a barley grain.
